Pediatric hospital networks have reported worrying increases not just in obesity but also in the conditions that go with it. In a study published in April in the journal Diabetes Care, researchers noted a sharp increase in 2020, compared with previous years, of the number of children who showed up at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles with a severe form of new-onset Type 2 diabetes called diabetic ketoacidosis. That might be because children were eating poorer- quality food and moving less, according to the lead author, Lily Chao, interim medical diabetes director at the hospital. It could also be that worries about the coronavirus induced families to delay seeking treatment for their childrens symptoms until they were in diabetic ketoacidosis.

Refusing to actually parent your child and stuffing them with the average American diet of processed food and corn syrup because that's easier than feeding them balanced nutrition should be classified as abuse.

That seems to be the norm sadly.

We've gone from "no, you can't have ice cream for dinner, now eat your fucking broccoli" to "how many McFlurries did you say you wanted?"

Type 2 diabetes has been a thing with kids for awhile, it's just that it's a new form of it.

Also, type 2 used to be called adult onset diabetes because it was exclusive to adults, but had to change the name after kids started getting it

That is true, we need to shame the parents, not the kids.

Wasn't this a headline in 2005? But yeah, when I grew up all the kids on the street had to stay outside until dinner/supper.

Like Bill Burr joked about parents now want to keep their kids inside and feed them so they appear unfuckable to pedos lol.

I've been looking into suger substitutes such as monkfruit and a 2 fl oz. Of it cost $12 off amazon since most stores dont carry it. Meanwhile a typcial bag of suger cost a fraction of that.

Stop fat shaming them
@EndOfDiscOne
No one is specifically pointing at them like a bully on a playground and saying: "hey you're fat!".

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a world where we point out the negative health consequences of eating whatever we want, as often as we want.

Also shame can be a tool to enact change. As someone who has never been skinny but have ranged from average to overweight, I would have to say my shame of being fat has given me the motivation to eat healthier and exercise more.
