Today we talk about beer.

I am not embarrassed to admit I like lager types. Even the beers like Bud and Miller and Coors classify as lagers. They may not be top of the line beers or anything like that, but if you're having a BBQ or a beach day or stuff like that, do you really want a super bitter IPA?

I love beer. Been drinking it daily for about 16 years.

My go-to brands these days are Old Style Pilsner and James Ready 5.5

Sometimes I'll get Moosehead Lager, Steamwhistle Pilsner or a few others.

Occasionally I'll even get a few 40s of Olde English and rock it old school.

Beer is good. Lagers, IPAs, sours, stouts, Belgian, etc, etc. All depends on the situation

Here it's hard to find Olde English in the glass anymore.

So I go with Colt 45 when I feel the hankering.

Lately my go tos have been darker lagers: bocks, dunkels, and the like. Those aren't as common, even at places that have craft beer on tap; Guinness is what I'll have when my options are limited

I was never a fan of IPAs but then I bought a 6 pack on a whim bc I liked the bottle art. It's was a "hazy" brew which is supposed to be fruitier than a typical IPA and I actually enjoyed it.

But my go-to is the standard brown ale from a local brewery around here. Good flavor. Refreshing. Goes with everything, and I can say I support local.

I'm of the opinion the best "simple" kind of beer is a Hefeweizen. I honestly think it'd be a good bit more popular if it just had a simpler name as a style.

I vote for the umbrella term of Pale Lager as my simple beer, including Pilsners, Helles, Dortmunders, Euro Lagers, American style, Mexican style, etc

Freaking delicious. Like a blueberry, raspberry milkshake.

My local brew scene is insane. This is one of the newer breweries and they knocked it out of the park.

My brother got a bunch of fruity Kolsch beers for his daughters birthday party yesterday and we lads ignored the kiddies to kill a case and play Mario Kart on his kids' Switch. Good times.

I love some crazy hardcore beers like IPAs and Quad Belgian Ales but there's nothing wrong with some sweet and light when hiding from the humidity in an air conditioned basement.

Ryewine is simply a barleywine brewed with some rye, so boozy af. Rye Whiskey is American whiskey that is very similar to Bourbon but uses a majority of rye instead of corn so it is drier than Bourbon. Boulevard specifically uses Templeton Rye barrels.

Note that Canadian Whisky (no "e") is often called Rye Whisky, but many modern ones don't actually use much, if any, rye anymore.

Exactly. I love IPAs too and am admittedly an overall beer snob. But people who drink only IPAs actually appreciate beer less than many others. They think they are cool, but they only like things that bombard their senses.
