I liked that it was more "grounded" I guess. Like the creature behaved more like a real animal let loose in a city

The design of it looked a lot better and more natural too. Unfair amount of hate IMO

It was just Jurassic Park in the city. There was nothing Godzilla about it. Godzilla is a mutant creature who got that way because of nuclear energy. Godzilla 98 was just a regular ass raptor.

Also it was way better than the snoozefest that was the 2014 movie.

The ending needed more. Matthew Brodericks guy hiding in a skyscraper and Godzilla chasing him around through the windows peaking in with his giant eye and smashing the glass ~ with the babies storming the place, and then the building collapses on them both when the mother tries to come in. That would be realistic and in line with the original.

It's a good design, but it was put to bad use. If you don't believe a monster can survive a missile, you don't need to be making giant monster movies

I agree with this. Faithfulness to the source material aside, I want movies I watch to be entertaining, the 2014 movie fails completely at that.

American Godzilla was extremely agile and in a highly populated area. They could have explained why missiles didnt work/werent an option. Similar to Shin Godzilla

The highly populated area didn't seem to bother the military in that movie. They destroyed more than the monster.

In Shin Godzilla?

They wait until hes near a field to begin the bombardment. The American fighters drop bombs on Godzilla in the city after he used the laser to destroy the city.

The '98 movie.

I loved that movie as a kid. I had so many of those toys..the helicopter chase, the subs....so much action. I can understand how "real" godzilla fans probably hated it tho. For me it was the ultimate popcorn flick as a kid.

Shin Godzilla is amazing

I loved Godzilla vs Kong too. The hollow earth & Mecha-G basically made the movie for me. Really felt like it was more about the monsters this time around, which I like. Shin Godzilla basically takes it back to the original design (closer to King of the Monsters tbh) only it removes all plot armor & rule of cool from the cast. Theyre just normal guys trying to find solutions. I love that.

that's the one where godzilla is on screen for maybe 5 minutes right? it felt like a bigger budget cloverfield.
