Literally have no plans of buying new consoles or games.

Video games seemingly havent innovated or evolved anything in more than a decade. Theres literally no point to buy new games.

The only way I would start playing games again is if they made a console that allowed you to stream any old video game in history because new games are straight garbage and not worth playing.

Same here, games these days come 75% completed, expect micro transactions, arent as fun to play online, and play more like movies than games

I dont even play CoD.

Madden used to be my only game but now I cant even handle that bullshit anymore because they dont update the game year to year, its just a $60 roster update with the same fucking problems every year.

Right now I have an Xbox One that is dusty as fuck and unplugged because it kept turning itself on to do updates or some shit I dont even have an Xbox live subscription.

I have old games downloaded on my Xbox that I play now and then

• Bully
• Sonic Adventure 2
• Skyrim
• Minecraft
• Fight Night Champion
• Fallout 3 / New Vegas

Literally all of these games are 10+ years old and they are infinitely more fun than any new games coming out these days.

I remember when Red Dead Redemption 2 came out and people were calling me crazy for not buying it I saw the gameplay and I was like that looks stupid as fuck and never spent 30 seconds playing it because I didnt buy it.

I never bought or played Fallout 4 either.

You literally didn't even play them, you can call it boring, that's your right I guess.

But why are you complaining? You didn't buy the games, you're not affected if the game is boring or not.

But you're dismissing the games you are shown for vague reasons like "it looks boring". You also listed a grand total of 2 games. You know how many games they've made in the last decade? This sounds very much like a personal problem.

It happens when some people reach their own limit for a popular media source.

It can happen with games, movies, music, etc. The popular source is still catering to the biggest market slice, which is digesting that media slower than you did.

Either search for the weirder spicier gems, or find a new hobby that will tickle you.

It happens. I went through a period in my 20s where I didnt care to play them at all. But the urge came back and Im back to casual gaming.

I had a pretty active social life when I was younger, but these days I don't care much.

I just go to work then come home, get drunk and play video games.

With very few exceptions, I don't buy anything that isn't at least two to three years old. If it's a full or near full price AAA game, has to go on at least a 75% sale. I just don't see value in these big AAA games until they've had their updates and they go on sale.

I made an exception for Doom Eternal, which I bought on a 50% sale (not bad still). Though I should not have, cause I still haven't played it. Otherwise, I'm invested in the first person swordfighting games, I got Mordhau on launch and now a good bit of the community is going to Chiv 2, so I probably will buy that, even full price. Though I almost never do that.

However, speaking on what you said, these games I mentioned, whatever their quality, are at least making attempts to push their genres forward (for Eternal, if not structurally, at least mechanically). I agree with you that we haven't seen enough of that in recent years. Modern AAA gaming is about maximizing profit and holding back ideas for as long as they can until gamers startgiving them shit. They drip feed us substantial moves forward in design. Thank god the indie scene exists.

That being said, I suspect you'll see some things in these next few years that will probably tempt you to a new console. If I were you I'd just go pc, though.

I'm a lot older than you TC, but I feel pretty much the same. A lot of series & developers that I used to love are either dead (everything from Konami) or may as well be (Bioware), so it's rare for me to give a damn about any new games.

Besides the Yakuza series I have no interest in playing recent AAA games either, Cyberpunk just solidified my feelings about them
