The delta variant cases in the UK.

The more transmissible Delta variant is surging across all parts of the UK, new data shows.
As Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a four-week delay to the planned 21 June unlocking in England, data shows that the variant originating in India is now the dominant strain, edging out the Alpha Kent variant first identified in the UK before Christmas.
The UK Governments chief medical adviser Chris Whitty laid out the data, warning of an increase in the new variant is occurring across the whole country.

The Brits have delayed coming out of lockdown because of it.

plenty, because you'll eventually catch a vaccine resistant variant from them and will suffer the same fate they do

The states with low vaccination rates are going to be fucked in about a month.

If you dont have the second vaccination you have no protection against the delta variant.

So a month for the first shot, then two weeks for the second to take effect, then youre protected.

That puts you into August though.

Seriously, who cares at all anymore? Idk if you could pay me a million dollars to give one crap about covid at this point. I sacrificed so much of my life the past year and I am fully vaccinated. Not gonna spend another week inside so an anti vax boomer can have a better shot at life. People who never took basic precautions damn near negated whatever good the rest of us did by staying inside. Clearly people just want this to continue as a political battle

It's the anti-vaxxers'/anti-maskers' fault in the first place that variants like this spread around so quickly, so a lack of sympathy for them is definitely understandable.

This. If dumbfucks don't want to get a vaccine because "insert moronic trash conspiracy theory here" then fuck em, let them die. The issue is that they will be taking up a hospital bed from someone who actually deserves it.

at work, I got the Flu shot mostly just to show people that its okay ^.^

of course, a percentage of them still said no - no! you must be different. It will hurt me!!

All of the recent hospitalizations and deaths were unvaccinated people, at least where I live in Canada. Long story short, get vaccinated.

If you choose to not get vaccinated, all I can say is to continue wearing masks, wash your hands every time you put something in your mouth and stay away from other people as much as possible.

Yea US is so screwed. So many are like im vaccinated so I dont care. Whole reason this delta variant got so big is because of a bunch of unvaccinated people in another area. That could easily happen in the US. Just like unemployment numbers people just look at the headlines for vaccine numbers if you looked at the racial breakdown you'd go holy shit at how low black/hispanic vaccine numbers are.

As someone who isn't vaccinated yet this variant is a good enough reason to get my first jab.

Side note: I didn't get a shot yet because I still wear my mask everywhere and I waiting as long as possible in case they came out with a new "version" or something that might be better against the previously known variants. Seems like it's possibly getting worse so I guess I shouldn't mess around anymore.

Yes.

If you dont have a blood disorder or are pregnant, get it immediately.

You can walk into basically any cvs or walgreens/walmart in the country and get it the same day.

Their websites have schedulers. And you can get the second one somewhere else if its not convenient.
