3080s are so expensive even from retailers. aint no way im getting a 3080 for under 2 grand any time soon

3070s are still like $2000, but they are actually in stock right now...

should i give in and buy a 3070? i have 1440p@165hz monitors, so the 3070 cant even power those properly today...

I bought my 2060 for under $400. If I can't get a modern graphics card for that price, I don't buy. I get that Nvidia is a business, but charging the same price that a Titan used to go for for not even your top end graphics cards is bullshit. I'll use an APU before I pay $1,200 for a graphics card.

im sure it can work on CPUs, but GPUs are extremely powerful and a bit more specialised while CPUs are a bit more generalised

supply chain and actual manufacturing is still recovering so this post is pretty spot on.

crypto mining sure aint helping thats a fact. And the secondary market is going to be flooded with 3xxx cards with insane mileage on them and no one will know.

Your GPU is better than mine (2080 MQ) and honestly I haven't found any games that can't easily be played at 1440p.

What's fascinating is that these price hikes don't seem to be impacting the laptop GPU market at all, and with the 6800M being on-par with the 3080 (mobile) in laptops that go for $1,600, we're starting to get into a situation where an ENTIRE LAPTOP with the power of a desktop 3070 sells for less than a 3070 by itself.

that has to do with direct dealings of the manufacturers of said laptops getting everything at cost as opposed to the secondary market setting their own prices.

if I see a great deal on a 3070 laptop Id probably jump on that before spending 3-4k on a new desktop 3070 build. Because youre right - its crazy how laptops are just as powerful as their desktop equivalent.

Honestly, I think that's debatable.

If you could ACTUALLY get an RTX 3080 for $699, I'd say the performance uptick is worth the $200 price differential over the RTX 3070.
