I remember when I did that
I remember having a two month gap in my CV
I enjoy explaining it as 'I wanted a break from being called at 3am'
I remember interviewers being super impressed I'd be on call

My 2 buddies did this to stream video games full time.

One is 26 and married while the other is 36 and single. Both worked full time for years at my current job I actually do envy them they are getting traction on twitch.

Sometimes it happens if you just had enough.

You can keep going and going with the desire to quit, but no REAL intention to quit, but then you have one REALLY shit day where the management is being extra shitty or your coworkers are fucking around and you just say "fuck it, im done".

I had a day like that once when i was young. I was working a dollar store job, and it was pretty shitty as you could imagine. Pay was low, managers were fucking lazy and i was being over worked.

It was a super hot day and the cheap ass managers wouldnt turn the air on to save money. Naturally they sat at a desk with fans blowing the entire time. They tasked me with stocking an entire area with 1 other guy (who was one of their nephews). While we were working, he eventually wandered off to go and stand at the manager desk and just talk to them.

This shit went on for an hour with him doing nothing and me doing everything in this super high heat. I decided to sit down for a few minutes to drink some water and cool down. I wasnt sitting for more than 30 seconds before the manager started waddling towards me screaming "WHAT ARE YOU DOING? WERE NOT PAYING YOU TO SIT DOWN!!!"

It was that very moment where i realized i was done. I told them, in no uncertain words what i thought about them and this shit job and how fucking cheap he was. How his nephew did nothing for the last hour but talk to his lazy ass while i did everything. I told him i quit and he can do some actual work or all this stock could just sit on the fucking floor.

Then i walked out. No other job lined up or no real other care at the time. I just had enough and it was worth it to just be done and save a bit of sanity.

One satisfying bit was walking past the store a couple hours later and seeing his fat ass trying to stock a shelf, drenched in sweat and heaving. Totes worth it.

the only reasons I can think of doing this is if you are going to school full time, taking care of a loved one, or if you got really sick yourself
