Stan culture is one of the biggest circlejerks on the internet right now, being around it is like huffing farts. What I'm saying is that this post has more to do with stan culture than it does with any genuine progressive discourse. This is like pre-Dashcon Tumblr levels of performative wokeness - it's all in service of fujoshis and kids who want to show off a bunch of progressive lingo as a means of pwning the competition in their fandom. It all comes back to superwholock - or BTS, as the kids are following nowadays - and it has very little to do with the leftist zeitgeist at the moment. The way I see users who love to dunk on shit like this as a leftist thing is that they're still stuck on this 2015 Karen haircut trigglypuff image of progressive online communities, when I would argue there's been a hard split between modern leftist communities and radfems who are on the fringe of the movement which has affected the culture of those groups. Stuff like this is fringe - again, this has more to do with the tiktokker's fanaticism over BTS and their entitlement to a publically available fast food menu item that's tied up in that fanaticism than any genuine, good-faith attempt to engage with leftist discourse. Whether you still think there are some groups that are a bit too high-falutin' and silly in the arguments they bring up is your call, but when I see a screencap like this of a stan using a bunch of social justice lingo to be toxic about their pop-cultural obsession, I cringe because I know it's gonna spur more indignation in the vein of "SJWs and libruls are ruining society!". It's just some geeky fandom kid using a bunch of weighty terms to try and throw that weight around in their favor - so I commented to that effect. --- If I don't want to put my dick in them then it's bad character design.
