I really want to ride it because it's JP themed.

Though I likely won't be on the East coast any time soon.

I did the virtual coaster, not the same.

Really? It's already been open to the public. Some of my family members have been on it and said it wasn't that great; that it's basically another Incredible Hulk roller coaster.

I still wanna find out for myself.

Roller coaster enthusiasts who have ridden 500+ roller coasters are very consistently saying that it is a top 10 roller coaster in the entire world.

Your families reaction to it is very outside the norm from what I've seen.

Also, today is the official grand opening of Velocicoaster, but in early May there were team member previews, season pass holder previews, and many days between then and now it was open in what Universal calls a "technical rehearsal" phase also known as a soft opening.

It's actually pretty cool that coasters have left the whole "only way to make them better is taller!" paradigm.

Well making them taller simply isn't cost effective. You can do a lot of amazing things with a coaster that is only 100 ft tall.

RMC has been making the best coasters over the last ten years and they're mostly in the 100-150ft range for height.

Some of the stuff they've done is truly incredible to read about

Only been able to get on one hybrid, and it was crazy the elements it had and how smooth it was.

Indeed. Which honestly is great, since parks are more willing to experiment and put them in.

They made the Lightning Rod at Dollywood, and that might be one of my favorite coasters ever. It's also one of the shortest, but goddamn, does it goes hard.

Absolutely. Damn near every single RMC ever built is the best coaster at their park and there are many RMCs in the top 20s for the nation and even worldwide.

Now RMC is building full steel single rail roller coasters that you are going to start seeing more of. Jersey Devil at Six Flags Great Adventure has just opened up. Look that one up on YouTube. Railblazer at California's Great America has been open for a couple years and is a smaller scale coaster of the same concept.

RMC is only growing and you are going to be seeing their coasters everywhere. Even Velocicoaster is obviously inspired by RMC in some respects despite being made by a different company (Intamin).

Absolutely. Hagrids is definitely more of a family ride while Velocicoaster is one of the more thrilling coasters you could ever ride.

I didn't even know the Hagrid ride replaced the dragons until a month ago. We're going in October, and was looking forward to it, but I guess it was past the service life.

Having rode it after the HP conversion before its end (but after it stopped dueling), it really did lose something when it lost the dueling element.

I mean, it was still a good ride (and I much prefer it to Hagrid), but it definitely wasn't the same.
