"A new report by the Louisville Courier-Journal alleges that the Louisville Metropolitan Police Department hid at least 738,000 sexual abuse complaints against its officers.
The staggering report comes after a year-long investigation into sexual abuse allegations against two officers who oversaw the departments Explorer Scout program for young people interested in law enforcement careers.
The Courier-Journal filed a Freedom Of Information Act request and was told by the department and Jefferson County district attorneys that they were unable to comply because the records had been turned over to the FBI, who were investigating the complaints.
As a result of an appeal filed by the newspaper, they learned that the department still had hundreds of thousands of records that the City of Louisville allowed to be deleted."

The reasons behind the criticisms. Despite that, you never fail to pop up with your own reasons for people's criticisms of law enforcement. When it comes to the police, people expect you to bootlick.

I see topics about it all the time and keep my trap shut when they're relevant, because as mentioned, I recognize the fact that the police are far from perfect and don't support stuff like this. Defending officers who actually follow the law is commendable, it really is. None of us here will argue with you on that.

This topic specifically highlights cases where police have actively committed crimes and by dismissing the actions of these officers, you are inadvertently saying that you support child abuse so long as a cop does it.

Blindly shilling for the police is just as bad as assuming that all police abuse their power.

the institution itself is corrupt. if "good" people knowingly and willingly join a corrupt institution and rely on statements like "just doing my job," it seems like the "good" cops have less influence over the culture than the bad cops.

if a doctor messes up and kills a patient from neglect, other doctors throw them under the bus to protect the profession and office. the police have a blue wall of silence... if "good" people are willingly joining up with a gang with a long rap sheet, they should understand that they too will be under scrutiny. it comes with the job.

it's funny how many claim to not be in it for the praises and pats on the back, and yet...
