I would argue that even bacon is bad when it's burnt. It's part of why I vastly prefer chewy bacon to crispy, and if it's overcooked too much I tend to avoid eating it at all.

I'm not a fan of that kind of char, partly because it tends to get crunchy, and partly because it's mildly carcinogenic (it's why barbecues, as much as we love them as Americans, are probably terrible for us in general).

Part of why I love cooking burgers in a rotisserie - not only does at least some of the fat and grease drip off while cooking (ie, the main selling point they used to sell the George Foreman grill on), but you don't really get that sort of char or crisping on the edges unless you really screw up cooking.

I like bacon to have a little crisp and a little chew.

If it's brittle, I don't want it.

On-topic, I like a lot of vegetables when they've gotten a little char on them. Kinda wakes up the flavor. Sometimes a steak gets a little too done on the outside crust, but still tastes good.

Back when Arbys used to have 5 for $5 roast beef sandwiches, I'd buy a ton of them and put them in the fridge. Then I'd take the meat and stick it in the microwave for like 5 minutes until it was crunchy. Then I'd warm up the buns and put the meat back on it and it would taste amazing.

i really miss arbys, I wish we'd have one here.

Prices are higher in Canada... but I remember when there was 4 for $5 roast beef, then it was 3 for $5... then it was 2 for $5. :V
