On the very article you linked, the very first graphic shows free DLCs, and the Next Gen upgrade for consoles, as well as continued updates and patches. All those before 2022.

The guy at Forbes writing the article says how confusing and unclear their graphs are.
It's just not good from CDPR at all.
"Best game ever" - some one said before it even released.

The guy at Forbes is an idiot. If you look on the timeline, there are three boxes; The Release, 2021 and 2022. Everything between 2021 and 2022 is everything that's going to be released in that period.

Tbqh I'm not even sure they can get it working properly on base last gen consoles. Forget about graphically, obviously it'll never be great in that department, but even in the technical department(framerate, texture loading, etc..) it is still utterly abysmal on last gen. I started a new playthrough last night to test it out on my ps4 slim, having not played since I beat it at launch. It's better, but still fucking terrible. So much texture problems and framerate issues still. Not to mention the many other core issues still facing the game on all platforms.

Honestly, I know they needed to do it for the money, but this game should have never come out on last gen.

It will never run well on them old ass consoles. It will end up like PUBG on consoles. People will play it and make excuses but at the end of the day its garbage compared to a PC and terrible compared to a PS5/SeriesX.

The devs themselves did their best but upper mgmt got greedy as fucking hell and pushed for more crunch to add more SKUs, and for what? An unfinished game that cost them hundreds of thousands in refunds as well as a significantly damaged reputation. All the top brass should've been fired for that colossal mistake.

What an absolute shitshow.

Obviously releasing it for the (then) current gen consoles was a mistake, but the handling of everything before and after that mistake has been abysmal, too.

I mean, it's probably one of the defining games of the generation, just... really not for the reasons they wanted it to be.

I agree. It's incredibly shallow, poorly designed as an actual game, fairly bare bones. It does have some decent qualities, but it feels so... Average.

I honestly really enjoyed my time with the main story and where it ended up. Some of the side characters had interesting missions, River for example I liked his subplot. But yeah it was just filled to the brim with uninteresting things. What's incredibly strange is if you choose the Corpo start it feels like a whole different game to what the rest of the game is like.

To be honest I was blinded by how good W3 was and was expecting them to not fuck it up. But things started to get rocky on their 2nd delay. Knew it was gonna be ass but still pre-ordered it

I played this game on PC with everything maxed out, so it's fair to say I got what would be considered to be the best possible experience. And even then, I didn't think it was a particularly great game. I enjoyed it, but it had a very "mile wide, inch deep" feel that ultimately made it pretty disappointing.

If they completely abandon trying to fix this game on last gen consoles and focus entirely on some sort of next-gen re-release next year, free to current owners of course, then the game has a very real shot of ultimately being a classic. But it has a long, long way to go to get there.

I would say it would never happen, but no man's sky is still getting updates so there is at least precedent for this sort of reversal.

It has little flashes of brilliance which give me hope. I agree that The Witcher 3 is clearly better, but the game definitely has a few moments where the characters, conversations, plot, and scenery click in a way that really gives that grungy cyberpunk feel in a way that no other game has.

It's a hard thing to pin down, in part because so much of the side content thrown in to make the map a little more populated is puddle deep. I think if somebody replayed the game and only did the main story quests, the game was modded to mostly occur at night, and the player actually drove around rather than using fast travel, they might come away with a much more positive experience.

Well the free DLC will likely be clothing skins and whatnot.

Some of the weapon types are underrepresented though, so maybe they'll put in some work to add a whole 'second' option to some of the categories.
