It's been a while since I've watched a movie but doesn't Pattinson put the bullet there when he shoots the reversed gun? Basically the gun is working back through time and Pattinson is going forwards. The two objects intersect and it looks like a reversed shot from Pattinson's perspective and a normal shot from the gun's perspective.

I don't recall if there's an explanation of what happens to walls that are impacted by reverse shots though.
So going with the reverse time line he shot it right then and there, then walked perfectly forward while in reverse time.

Notice he walks away slowly like it's in forward time. He even turns and walks away.

But the point is the bullet. In the reverse time, that bullet would have been there for a while, and no one ever noticed it and removed it.

Yes because the gun is in reverse and he is not. Similar to when the protagonist used the reversed gun at the gun range. I'm pretty sure this is the case. From the guns perspective Pattinson is going backwards and the gun is firing normally.

There's a comment about how things working in reverse are like 'pissing in the wind' so the bullet hole in the wall probably isn't there for all that long.

The characters were boring and I ended up not caring about a single one.

Incoherent movie that is more concerned with showcasing bombastic action scenes and trying to impress you with a surface-level gimmick than investing anybody in anything emotionally. Or making sense.

Talking about video games? it's ok to just disagree with each other on the internet. No point getting hostile or snide about it

If that's the case, who put the bullet ther in the first place?

Basically my whole issue with the movie is I think Nolan came up with a brilliant idea, but executed it poorly. It's really cool as a movie and concept, but I dont think even he (who dreamed up the idea) 100% fully knew how to execute it.

Pattinson puts it there when he fires the gun.

From the perspective of the normal timeline I don't know when the bullet hole appears for the reversed bullet to shoot out of. I remember the glass in the archive room acting weird when they encounter it so I think the inversion corrects itself at some point.

That's the issue imo. The whole idea is AMAZING, but executed improperly. Hes a terrific director (The Prestige is easily a top 5 film for me), but he doesnt always get it right.

In this case, he left a bunch of holes open with the idea "The audience will fill those in" and thats.. now how storytelling works. Tell the story, or dont. Dont tell parts of the story and tell the audience "figure the rest out, idk".
