A lot of players loathe him. Like, more than people hate Kaiden.

Personally, I didn't hate him (or Kaiden, for that matter), but it definitely seems like he's most people's least favorite squadmate (except for the people who complain that Cora is too butch or Peebee was deliberately made ugly to push an SJW agenda).

But you claimed in the other topic that the ME:A characters are the best in the series, so your opinion on this subject is questionable at best.

Reasons I hate Liam:

1, he's an idiot. If your friends in the Initiative tell you something is a bad idea, and your contacts among the Exiles tell you it's a bad idea, then it's probably a bad idea and you should give up on it. Not Liam.

2, he never takes responsibility for his fuck-ups. He brushes all of his failures off with some version of "I didn't mean for things to go bad". And yet they do. Repeatedly.

3, he's a hypocrite. Castigates Peebee for the actions she takes to begin her loyalty mission (and I'll be the first one to admit she pulls some dumb shit in that scene), but as said above, you can't really call him out on things he does in any way which changes his behavior.

4, he's abrasive to the point of his best Nomad conversations being the ones with Vetra, because she doesn't put up with his bullshit for one moment. As she puts it, "So you figured out why you're an asshole? Guess what: still an asshole."

Exactly, this is something I never hear people talk about Andromeda, the movement is too fast and encourages constant movement and flying around but also tries to get you to use cover like in past games, and I dunno what it wants to be. Like they couldn't decide between the two and decided to half-ass both.

The game as a whole suffers from an Identity crisis.

also the control scheme is...not right

they could have easily just copied the default regular mass effect controls. but they didn't.

the y button is now the interact button, and you have to hold it. it should just be the a button like it always was.

holding the back button is what brings up your weapon wheel. why was that changed from just holding lb? and i don't even know how to reassign abilities yet, but it's obviously not going to be holding rb like it should be.

oh, but you can jump now!!!!!!

so that should be the fucking y button. it was used as the third ability hotkey in the trilogy, but here, whatever no one needs three ability hotkeys.

so you'd assume you could just remap the controls? nope. you get to select from presets. why the actual fuck is that still a thing? i know this game came out a few years ago, but control remapping has been a thing for decades. not here though. why do developers insist that they know the best control scheme for everyone, when often times...they don't.

So I did and I'm about up to where I quit. I still maintain that this would be better if it was just a cover shooter like the others.

Also why won't the characters just Shut. The. Fuck. Up. Like every 3 second pause someone has to say some quip or exceedingly obvious phrase.

OBJECTIVE: Defend the Pathfinder.

"We gotta defend your Dad!"
~3 seconds later
"Don't let them slip through!"
~
"We almost got this keep defending!"

It's just that every goddamn second. Let me have a single thought for myself please.

Also unskippable cutscenes are disgusting.

I don't give a fuck how much Bethesda wants Y to be the jump button, I remap that shit about 30 seconds into every game they've ever made.

A's been the default jump button longer than most people on PotD have been alive. Developers who want to put it on a different button or a bumper or some weird stick flip or whatever are right up their own ass and can screw right off.
