I kinda liked Aloys personality

She's one of the few video game protagonists with a reason for talking to herself all the time and not knowing anyone or anything about the world

And she's capable while still being sympathetic and vulnerable

Sure it's no Falstaff but by mainstream video game standards , it's good.

I think getting into specifics about how makeup might exist in this fantasy universe distracts from the point. Aloy isn't a sexualised character. It matters more that she's expressive than whether she's got a sculptured jawline.

Never played Horizon, but I agree. If she always looked like that, fine, but no one likes it when character design takes a step backwards. When Capcom fucks up Chun li, the fan outcry is fierce.

She's not even ugly. I'm not a fan of her swept back hair but she's very average. People that complain otherwise have probably never interacted or seen a non-anime woman.

It's an unflattering angle, sure. But normal-looking people are allowed to be protagonists too. Not everyone needs to be the embodiment of beauty sculpted by the gods.

I have not seen that, and if that is the case then it is just a miss for them. I am speaking about people who are not upset with change.

I mean. She's not the hottest girl in the world, but I think in the setting she is, it makes sense that she isn't exactly super feminine. Anyway as a gay guy I survived playing games where male characters like Wario weren't exactly hotties, I think you can survive playing a game if you enjoy it where the female lead is not a supermodel.

It was free on psn for like 3 weeks to everybody, no plus required. And it included the dlc. Even if you missed that, State of Play sales are still active so you can get the original for 10 bucks retail.

And yes, unless you're tired of open world games. HZD was my GOTY when it came out because I was surprised by how amazing it was as a new IP. Unfortunately breath of the wild came also came out that year and swept every GOTY victory from damn near everybody.
