This just isn't true.

That's not how herd immunity works.

Just stop.

Ok, how aren't we meeting 2 and 3 on his list, and how is Israel's experience not relevant?

If you are in the US, the question for me is why arent you vaccinated yet. Everyone over 18 has an opportunity to get vaccinated and a lot of people choose not to. If we wait maybe one or two months, do you really think that the vaccinate rate will go up? Why would they? The only way it will is if there are requirements to get one.

Covid is probably never going to truly go away. Not for a long time at least.

People will just get used to it and itll still kill 50,000+ a year just like the flu does, which almost no one bats an eye at unless theyre personally affected.

Nobody has yet given an answer to when they think it's safe to open. Again, you can't force people to get vaccinated, so short of that, when is it going to be satisfactorily safe enough for you?

Seems like a good answer to me.

I still want to know what you get from being so obtuse and dishonest about this subject.
And if we never hit 70-90%? Do we just never open?

Cases are lower than they've been in 15 months, and none of the variants have shown to get around the vaccine so far.

The only reason for lockdowns in the first place was to prevent hospitals from being overwhelmed. Now we have effective vaccines and treatment for the disease so that's not happening.

It's important that people don't take a religious response to covid, whether that be in the form of anti maskery at the beginning, or unending lockdowns and never returning to normal life.

But if it were up to me, there would be zero indoor dining or unnecessary activity where people are enclosed in area with others for longed than 15 or so minutes (which we knew was a risk back in the beginning of the pandemic) until we got to that point.
And again, if we never get to that point, then we just never return to normal? Because that seems to be what you're getting at.

Advocating caution and saying that we are lifting restrictions prematurely isn't the same as saying we should still be scared of COVID. Though as someone who had a terrible bout with it, I do think people should be more scared than they are, if that makes sense. It's not fun going through it or watching a loved one go through it...and being a long hauler sucks.

Guess we will see if this all backfires or not. I've done nothing but present factual evidence backing why I feel how I do, and I am not alone. I welcome a counter that isn't a snide remark about fear mongering.

I'm also not this hermit you guys keep making me out to be. My girl and I just went out on a walk in the local park. I also shop every other day and will be going to hang out with a friend tonight. I just don't eat out at restaurants or bars or go to the movies (which I loved prior to COVID), all activities which have proven to increase spread. And I work out at home.

I really don't get this dishonest hate boner you guys have for people pointing out we are doing this all prematurely. What do you gain from it? Either I'm wrong, and I get to be called crazy (which I welcome, much like I welcomed it last year when I said this would be a big deal)...or you're wrong and when cases and hospitalizations go up again, you will be part of those responsible for it.
Imagine

Please tell me how I'm being disingenuous. And bruh, it's a fucking pandemic. "Whatabout" is literally thinking ahead. Are you real right now? There are so many "whatabouts" that were ignored from the get that we wouldn't be at 600k deaths right now (or 900k, if we go with what some suspect). Like gtfo with that.

At least you're acknowledging being disingenuous, though. I'll take that.
At this point the people in charge, the CDC, Fauci, etc are saying were at a point where its okay to loosen things up

remember all those memes last summer about some guy I knew in highschool who got straight Cs says masks dont work

youre being that guy now

cases and deaths are trending way down even as things open up. The science says youre good if youre vaccinated

stop fucking worrying and go to a restaurant

Because cases are not at levels that won't result in community spread and there are multiple variants of concerns in the US....? A simple search on shows that.

And the vaccines are effective against all of the current variants in the US. So why would vaccinated people be concerned? The vaccine has been tremendously effective. If you have it the chances of getting covid are a fraction of a percent and the odds of spreading it if you somehow get it are even less.

GregShmedley posted...
Isreal has a population of 9m and 60% is fully vaccinated, and rising. America has a population of 325m with only 50% fully vaccinated and the count is starting to plateau.

And over 61% of people have at least one dose, and even more have natural resistance from previously having covid. And after easing restrictions cases have continued to fall.

Based on all the evidence, if you're fully vaccinated you have nothing to worry about from going around without a mask. It's literally why you got vaccinated. You're just fear mongering and making up your own numbers we should hit as a internet scientist instead of listening to the experts who have researched covid for over a year.

What's wrong with waiting until now more people are vaxed, and we get to less than 10,000 cases a day per Fauci? We're getting there, but it's still to early. We're close, and if we do a hard lockdown for a few weeks while increasing vax rates, we could essentially end covid in the U.S. But instead, expect vaccine breakthrough cases to increase because we're throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Don't worry guys it's all part of the playbook. They're easing up temporarily so they can come out somewhere around July/August and hit everyone with a hard lockup because of variants non/vacc'd. It will be like last March all over again, especially heading into the fall. They love their new power feeling like they can control the big facets of society in the blink of an eye. Don't expect the PTB to give it up easily.

Stay vigilant and we'll get through this BS.
