specifically, when I died at the bridge with the scourge beasts.

The idea that I have to traverse from the beginning checkpoint again, through that army of hunters because they
all came back to life, through those goddamn crows and that massive troll thing, and those dogs, to fight those beasts again? All of that...AGAIN!?

I'll pick it back up next week lol

There's a shortcut that opens up. Instead of going to the boss fight, dip into the house next to the two werewolved, and follow that route till your find your way to unlock some door that take you back closer to the starting area. At least, I think that's it.

Also if those two wolves give you trouble, you can cheese them by running into that house. They'll chase you but get stuck in the entrance lol.

I used it for the dogs. I was using the torch for the scourge beasts. Big mistake, I guess.

There's like...30 hunters to get through again, though...

Its a waste of bullets but ill shoot the werewolves until they do that slow lunging forward grab and then hit them with the counter too

Was that the bridge with those 2 huge werewolf things? You're not even really supposed to go that way, and having 2 of those fuckers there at the start of the game is basically the game telling you to find another path.

I got the game free on psn years ago and got to that same part and quit before picking it up a year later. I spent more time grinding around that first bonfire for vials than any other area.

The difficulty curve is a big negative, it starts hard as shit then gets way too easy. The Old Hunters redeems it as its a fantastic DLC.

UPDATE:

I am now fairly fast at killing everything on my way to the bridge, including the giant Minion thing.

However, being lost, I wandered into the aqueducts. Those human monsters down there are pretty easy to stagger but one snuck up on me while I was killing some rats. I panicked and pressed square instead of circle to dodge, and paid the price. Now, I just found out that I'm not supposed to wander down there yet, but I have to if I want my blood echoes back.

I'm just worried my Axe will break with so many retries.

Bloodborne is cool. It's definitely one of the easier soul-like games, but if it's your first one, just stick with it. The game gets better as you get better at it.

The majority of the AI in that game have the shortest chase distance outside of thougher mobs like the wolves.

Just run past them. Plus a lot of enemies drop barely any blood echos too so it's encouraged to just fight only what you have to.

Edit: repairing is like 300 echos or something at the workshop. You can get that in a few enemies killed
Also a fully charged transformed heavy attack with the axe moves you forward and generally either knocks down/away all enemies or else stuns most for enough time to get back and let your stamina regen; also it clips through walls and pillars.

The map is super helpful.

But if I don't go down into the aqueducts I'll lose all my echoes ;_;

That's how I've been breezing through the mobs. I bait 5 or 6 at a time, get them at a choke point, and unleash a charged axe spin.

Then I pick off any stragglers.

You can easily farm most echos back at early levels tbh; just get the two big wolves into the doorway near the lamp shortcut at the house and just farm them over and over.
Honestly echos are pretty fucking abundant later on and more weapon damage is from upgrading it (which you can farm/buy the items easiy). Like you get a +6 after 3 bosses, with the max being a +10
Just pump healthy/vitality to 20 and then get whatever. Because your blood vials heal on a percentage of max health (30%) it benefits you to pump health.

You can run past just about everyone except the dogs and werewolves (and that's just because your stamina is low right now).

Also you got the axe so abuse that charged R2 and spin2win.

Also you repair your weapons where you met Gehrman.

open that brige to lamp shortcut. then lure the wolves to the house, use long reach attacks and chip em to death while they get stuck in the doorway. you can easily make back those echoes.

In Bloodborne, if you think the path to a boss.is too long, you're usually right. Take a look around the shortcuts are everywhere.

UPDATE:

It took 12 blood vials, 7 motolov cocktails, and a lot of patience, but I defeated Cleric Beast on my first try.

Then I immediately spent 75% of my Blood Echoes on increasing my level before realizing there was new equipment and new weapons available. Oof.

But I have that damn bridge.

Well, I definitely feel like I've improved.

I got through most of the aqueducts without dying but I got a little too curious and ended up locking into the wrong enemy, so when I tried to stun a troll, I shot the wrong person and died. Then died again against another troll, which means I lost about 10k blood echoes.

But now I have a clear path from the elevator to the bridge with the troll that killed me, and I've already looted everything prior to the giant pig in the little tunnel, so I don't have to traverse any of that again.

I'm still getting up there to kill that damn troll, though.

If you want to fight him legit, almost all his attacks can be dodged by sidestepping into him at an angle. Imagine he's 12 on a clock, you wanna dodge into him in the 11 o clock direction

Trying to dodge away from him is asking to get yourself killed, it is great at closing distance and punishing
