After all these years, its still one of the few survival games thats actually good.

Klei has also given the game a lot of support to my surprise. A bunch of new characters, reworks of characters that have been on the weaker side, tons of new content, caves no longer require a dedicated server to access... I could go on.

Last time I played this game (until like a week ago) was 5 years ago, but coming back the game still feels fresh.

I played the crap out of the original and Reign of Giants. Never touched Together though.

Together Id say is easier than the single player game. Also it has Reign of Giants integrated completely in it, with few exceptions. Shipwrecked and Hamlet are the things that arent integrated (theres a boat but its completely different than the Shipwrecked ones), besides Warly and Wormwood getting character refreshes and ported to Together.

It is kind of annoying that Together has like, 14/17 characters unlocked from the start (the other 3 being paid characters, but you can unlock Wormwood for free if you own Hamlet), but you have to grind experience in the original game to unlock characters. I want to be able to play Shipwrecked with Walani for example just to have an easier start my first go. But I have to unlock 7 other characters before her first...

Yeah, my understanding is that the synergy between the single player and multiplayer experiences is all fucked up. It's exactly asymmetric enough to confuse you.

The example I know off the top of my head is that Willow's Lighter was completely retuned because griefing is of course a thing in multiplayer.

Damn. I think that's the longest I've lasted in single player. I tempted fate by taking on 2 tallbirds at once. Impossible to kite them both.

Fire also spreads slower in together for the same reason.

Also any character that's been changed for Together is probably better in that version. Biggest example being Wendy. She's dogshit in the original version. In Together she's great for farming stuff like spiders though.

Okay so I tried out Wurt yesterday and she looks cool and all Im just... not a fan of how it feels like you need to babysit so hard

You need to farm because she is a vegetarian (like Merms)

So youre tied down to the farm

You can also build merm houses which require a lot of wood, and can make a merm king that buffs you and all other merms on the map, but you have to feed him, or hell starve after 2 days

Of course you can give someone else a merm disguise and they can feed him but cant trust other people to want to do your job

Compared to Wortox who just seems broken in general because of soul hop and healing off souls, and Wormwood who can grow gardens anywhere and can infinitely generate living logs if he has the health, Wurt seems weak for a paid character

Don't Starve is probably one of my favorite games of all time. I'm not a big fan of the multiplayer though. Can't really put my finger on why

Really, I feel like the multiplayer makes it a lot more fun. You can accomplish more than just playing by yourself. Plus Together gets a lot more updates as well.
