You need to make sure the Nuke will go off. Ashley is there by the nuke.

If the mission is at risk, you ensure the mission will succeed. You go save the nuke, thereby saving Ashley.

Like people said you can choose who goes where, but being able to reroute one or the other after the fact and basically say no I dont want them to heroically sacrifice themselves, you go do it instead is funny as fuck

I'd always kill off the potential love interest. MaleShep leaves Ashley, FemShep leaves Kaidan. Only exception was the one time I actually romanced Ashley. Whoever I left behind was the one I'd send with the Salarians.

Kaidan also lives with constant migraines and the possibility of it becoming worse. Ashley is just xenophobic and has a bit of a martyr complex.

last time I played I dropped Ashley to defend the nuke and went to save Kaidan lol

I liked Ashley in the first game overall. Was nice to actually have a bit of a complex character in the squad.

But damn did they drop the ball hard with her in the sequels. She's weirdly hostile in ME2 and there's barely any dialogue with her at all. Then she spends most of ME3 totally cold. Just weird stuff in general.

I just played the section. The Salarians are falling back and whoever is there basically says they will stay behind to back them up.

One advantage with going to the nuke is I think it's a better location to confront Saren. Cutscene has Shepard dangling over the waterfall.

But the death cutscene is better when the person is left alone protecting the bomb.

It wasn't difficult, but not for the reason you mentioned.

It's simple. Kaidan and Ashley are both the two least-liked companions in ME1. But Ashley has the tits and ass. So RIP Kaidan

I only let Kaiden die once to say I bothered doing the Ashley romance all the way to Mass Effect 3. Other than that I straight up do not care about her enough to consistently pick her over Kaiden, someone I actually like.

Oops forgot that Ilos was the PONR, guess I'll have to do all the side quest crap on my legendary mode run. Gonna platinum it for sure this time since it's a lot easier than the ps3 one. :l Having to dedicate an entire playthrough to two crew members is just kind of... *Groans*

the nuke is already going to go off, regardless of what the Geth do (this is even heavily implied)

On the other hand, securing the AA tower isnt necessary, just makes things convenient iirc

Therefore both choices are entirely logical, its just whichever you deem more important

Also Ashley isnt racist, her only complaints about the aliens is that theyre on board a prototype alliance craft, unless Im remembering wrong. Its a valid concern lol.

She voices that she 100% is concerned about interacting with them because humans have to watch out for humans, anyone else won't have their interests in mind.

She isn't wrong about that. Relationships with the Council and Humanity are still tense after the First Conflict war. The Council has shown many times throughout the series that they will put their races first before others. Which is a lesson the Krogan learned the hard way. The mistake Ashley made is that she made it about race instead of politics but she wasn't wrong.

The worst thing she said was the comment about struggling to tell aliens apart from the animals but considering there's stuff like walking Jellyfish and Keepers it's not that bad. They should have given that line better context though.

She doesn't really do anything against anyone other than voice her concerns other than one specific situation where she kills Wrex if Shepard can't talk him down. Which is exactly the sort of thing she warned Shepard about.

Remember in ME1 humanity is low on the totem poll and the Council don't really take them seriously. Which is why Shepard being the first Spectre is a big deal. But when push comes to shove the leaders will take care of themselves over humans.
