Lady Macbeth was like the smartest person in the play.

You know youre a fake-ass Shakespeare fan if you think different interpretations of his work is fucking him up. His plays have been put in different contexts, eras, styles for ages. Come off if

I mean...

I'm intrigued to see what a "feminist" interpretation of Macbeth could be.

Y'know given most straight portrayals have Lady Macbeth as scheming, conniving, and then going batshit insane.

Yes and they generally adhered to the spirit of the work. Obviously times, places, and characters were different, but the intent behind the writing was kept the same. You can't have a feminist version of Macbeth because it would then no longer be Macbeth.

Except I'm not right-wing. It's also ironic considering I have you tagged as a troll. I guess that's my mistake for bothering to engage with you and expecting any actual dialog instead of trolling.

I've never read the play nor seen it performed, so I'm not too familiar with the story.

with that said, even if Lady Macbeth is said to be the most intelligent person in the play, it doesn't necessarily mean that it's a feminist work. like, she might be intelligent, but she could also be portrayed in a negative, scheming way, like Iago in Othello.

even if that's not the case, you can make a work more feminist by how some characters are reinterpreted, portrayed, cast, etc.

Almost everyone in Macbeth is some flavor of a asshole? Does Feminist mean that women can't be a as bad as her male peers ?

So this version of Shakespeare is just some niche and new version for people who have already seen Macbeth?

I dont think theres a problem with what youre trying to point out tbh, Im not interested in Shakespeare much and if I did watch a play (I dont like plays either tbh) it wouldnt be this version since it strays away from the source material apparently

What? Im saying people who complain about Shakespeare being creatively adapted often arent fans of his in the first place. Where did you get that?

Plays?

Being adapted?!

IN THIS YEAR?!

Be interested to see what they do to make this a feminist slant though, with one of its big themes being the damage of seeking power (I think?) Been ages since I've read/watched any of his plays.

honestly other than the lady macduff scene in question macbeth wrote its one major female character pretty well
lady macbeth was an excellent villain and her guilt for her actions gave her depth to her character instead of just being a generic bad guy

Do a full gender swap for every character and leave the rest as is?

Female protagonist is goaded into plot to overthrow queen by scheming ambitious husband, after encounter with three weird brothers?

Change the title to just Beth?
