What's the furthest year you can go back and not wish you had something from the "future?"

You've heard it before. The now times suck. The news has an agenda, everyone's offended, the only video games are Among Us and TikTok, if only you could live in the past.

Like in the year 536. But wait, there's no Internet in the year 536. You would go mad with boredom. So maybe not that far. But how far? How far until you're like "Wait, if I go further I'll be without an invention or cultural phenomenon I really like?"

Explanation: We're only counting cultural phenomena. For instance, If you hate 2020 because of the virus, but are afraid to go back further than that because 2020 was the year your crush kissed you, don't worry. Your crush will still kiss you in whatever year you go to. We're not talking about personal events, we're talking about stuff a people as a whole experienced.

About 2003 or so. The internet existed, but wasn't (completely)full of idiots.

I don't want to live in the past, I want to live in the future. The only reason i'd want to go back in time is either to use it to win the lotto/invest, or if I got a chance to redo parts of my life.

Generally speaking, maybe 10-20 years. Pragmatically speaking, maybe thirty years. However, I'd still be comfortable about a hundred years back. Once you start going earlier than the 1920s, the quality of life drops off.

@Metalsonic66 Do you mean when it peaked on Google Trends? This video is a collection of when all the most notable memes of each time were born, how long they trended, when they died off, and whenever they were revived.

Technically speaking, the fundamental question has nothing to do with nostalgia and you certainly wouldn't nostalgia for the time frame cited.
