Gamepass is amazing. Horizon 4 for driving, dragon Quest 11 for an RPG, minecraft.tomlose 500hours and many.many more. --- Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah... Its a tremendous supplement, but its not all-encompassing. I think it depends on what sort of gamer you are. I'm someone who wants to play most of the major stuff so it's a supplement for me. But there's plenty on Game Pass to have it as a primary way to play games if you want to. Even Series S/X enhanced games that aren't complete native versions still work on USB hard drives. Storage could be an issue in a few years but it's easy enough to work around right now. It sort of reminds me of everyone panicking about Switch storage but that hasn't been an issue for me personally. Worst case scenario you have a couple of AAA games installed at once and delete when you're done with them. The PS5 storage isn't great either and I don't see anywhere near as much panic over it.
