Huh, 1981 looks pretty good:
  • 1981 Raiders of the Lost Ark, Chariots of Fire, Reds, The Evil Dead, On Golden Pond, Pennies from Heaven, Das Boot, Blow Out, Heavy Metal, Arthur, Scanners, Time Bandits, Clash of the Titans, An American Werewolf in London, Escape from New York

1984 also looks good:
  • 1984 This is Spinal Tap, Ghostbusters, Amadeus, The Terminator, Gremlins, Nausica of the Valley of the Wind, The Karate Kid, Once Upon a Time in America, Paris, Texas, Footloose, Beverly Hills Cop, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Sixteen Candles, The River, The NeverEnding Story

2016 was cool, had a few movies I really liked:
  • 2016 La La Land, Deadpool, Your Name, Dangal, Zootopia, Kubo and the Two Strings, Moana, Sing Street, Arrival, Manchester by the Sea, Moonlight, Hacksaw Ridge, Fences, Lion, The Jungle Book, The Handmaiden, The Mermaid, Don't Breathe, In This Corner of the World, I, Daniel Blake, Sing, Silence, Hell or High Water

idk, some years list more movies than others so the comparisons aren't always fair. Oh, apparently 1980 doesn't even include Empire Strikes Back. wtf?

1994 was the greatest year for cinema in history. That's not an opinion, it's a universal truth, and you're objectively wrong if you think otherwise.

I'd list the movies from that year but I don't want to embarrass TC or Zeus.

tbh, when I was going through the list of years, I was tempted to give 1994 a nod but.... idk. They just listed more shit for 1994 and I realized a bunch of the other stuff they had kinda sucked.

  • 1994 Pulp Fiction, Forrest Gump, The Lion King, The Shawshank Redemption, Legends of the Fall, Clerks, Interview with the Vampire, Speed, True Lies, The Crow, Maverick, Lon: The Professional, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Mask, Dumb and Dumber, Through the Olive Trees, Four Weddings and a Funeral

Sure, Pulp Fiction, Forest Gump, and the Lion King were incredible, but the original Clerks was shit and Dumb & Dumber sucked. And I've never liked Speed.

The fact that it had True Lies and Leon the Professional drew my attention more, since I loved both movies. Plus I had specifically looked for the year Pulp Fiction came out.

That said, you could also make a great case for 1993
