I generally like helping people so I'm applying for a caregiver position for the elderly (well more elderly than me) at two places tomorrow.

Was a bit hesitant, and would rather work with kids (less likelyhood of them you know...dying.....while I'm working with them). Not really looking to get to know someone and like them and have them die after awhile.

But it's part time, so hopefully I won't be working with any one person too much and won't have to deal with that. This way at least I can make a difference in peoples lives and be productive.

It's funny though I see all this stuff about people not wanting to go back to work, but I've been applying for jobs for 2+ weeks now and there is a ton of competition for positions, at least here in Washington. I also signed up for people ready to do contract work but there have been no jobs within 20 miles of me in the last few weeks.

That includes all of Olympia/Lacey/Tumwater and Shelton.

I just waited till 2 weeks after getting my second shot to start applying since I'm high risk. Never in my life since I was 11 years old did I not work for so long, and I really don't like it.

Probably depends on the field?

You would imagine, but I've been using indeed etc, and I have experience in so many fields it's a bit rediculous.

Worked retail etc when young a bunch, ran a warehouse for Value media (management and warehouse exp), worked in Landscaping for Sanders and Sanders, was a legal secretary/office manager for years, worked as a tutor, a nanny and a teacher. Took care of 2 bed bound people for 4 years, have experience as a cook as well (though not much). I also have programming experience though I have not been applying for IT jobs (But my friend has who has more experience than me and she hasn't had any luck for over a month).

For the IT positions they almost always want waaay to much experience for anyone trying to break into the field, it's a bit crazy.

I have had a few interviews and am waiting to her back from a few, and I didn't want the Kindercare one since it requires shelling out $1500 (and a 3 month program at home) to take. Other than that I have barely heard back from anyone out of hundreds of applications.

Canceled the second interview as I got a job offer from the first.
Have to go in and fill out paperwork on Monday and have a background check done, but I have no worries about that.

Sounds like a good fit, I'll be a caregiver for the elderly, but they said they could send me to people who are not terminal or likely to die soon (was my major worry as I don't want to deal with that for awhile).

There is 60 hours of training that has to be done, but they pay you for it, so not horrid, and they are ok with me working part time at least at first.

So sounds good, and YEAH I'll be working again finally!!
