teachers. Can be good pay depending on the area but for all the work they put in on evenings, weekends, and breaks its not enough, and the general societal perception is still hurr weekends and summers off and paid for (untrue) durr. Plus lots of idiot adults and kids hate teachers or think theyre irrelevant

Teachers in nicer areas or at private schools can have it pretty sweet tbh, especially if they love their jobs. Teachers do have one thing going for them though - no drug tests.

Yeah, nurses and teachers definitely don't go unthanked compared to someone working a general labor job like construction. I see construction on the fwy and I'm like "wtf. God damn it. These assholes are gonna make me late" and not "thanks for fixing roads" etc.

As a teacher, it isn't a thankless job. However, for each person out there who appreciates what you do, there are 10 who think it's just babysitting.

Correections. Any minimum wage job.

I specify corrections over law enforcment because law enforcement is celebrated by some. It seems like a either you love em or hate em kinda thing. Corrections only gets talked about when they fuck up. Ive personally saved inmates lives. My mother did just recently and that one was ugly blood everywhere. Not a word from the media. Unlike some cops we actually do our best to keep them alive. Some just cause they don't want that paperwork to do some cause we may not like criminals but we know we ain't judge jury and executioner, all that shit has been done its just our job to make sure they dont escape or die due negligence on our part.

most jobs don't have appreciation weeks and aren't given gifts regularly
we aren't talking about compensation at all, but to me thankless means unappreciated and teachers are definitely more appreciated than a lot of jobs
nobody buys electricians christmas gifts and starbucks gift cards and there is no "civil engineering appreciation week"
also there was hyperbole involved...but teachers are not thankless jobs, they're largely poorly paid jobs
