Would it?

One of my co-workers has been banging on about it all morning and I can't for the life of me understand why she or anyone else cares.

Let him be him man. It's fucking clothes. Not like he's doing meth and eating Guinea pigs

But when I say that she just gets madder

Someone say pink in this thread? No one in MY house is wearing fucking pink for any reason. I don't care if you're a boy or girl or a fucking sentient giant penis statue. No pink.

You know who likes pink? Fairy types. In this household we stand Dark and Dragon types.

This is bullshit logic, you don't give in to bullies you stand up to them

When segregation ended people bullied the fuck out of black students , according to your logic that means we should have kept segregation

If we never stood up to bullies Asia would be speaking Japanese, Mainland Europe would be speaking German and the US would still be English

We'd still have slavery and treat women like dogs

Fuck bullies . We do what's right

If people bullied your kid for his hair would you shave him bald?

No. By nature of the word theyre even wrong. But even trying to not get bullied and dealing with them id hate to do anything to invite their attention.

Its odd to attack a parent for being worried that their childs decision might encourage bullying.

Damn right I'm attacking parents for teaching their kids to not stand up to bullies, to encourage that bullying works as a means of change and that you need change who you are because of them.

Thats horrible

They look up to and learn from you and you're telling them to be cowards, be ashamed of themselves and that being evil Is right and successful

Its not that simple man. I'll give you an example, my son was getting bullied at school by some fat fuck ginger, now while he took it in stride and didn't let him bother him because he has incredibly thick skin, when he told us the things this kid was doing my wife and I recognized it as attempted bullying right away and we asked him why he was letting this kid do this stuff. His response was the kid was really big and he was scared the kid would hurt him. We have both our kids in self defense classes because we believe it is important for them to learn how to defend themselves, but as a 7 year old kid he was still very concerned about getting hurt by a kid that could beat him up. I spoke with his teacher and the teacher told my son that if anything like that was happening to make sure he spoke up and she would deal with him. He hasn't had a problem since but if it was my daughter, who is actually really fucking sensitive, she'd probably have broken down and refused to go to school. Kids are super fucking complicated man.

If a kid is getting bullied to the point of having to defend themselves then encouraging them to do things that might "invite" bullying, is essentially telling them to fight bullies.

Maybe people are worried about bullies and people getting bullied because i dont know, maybe theres quite a few school shootings and nothing changes after them.

School is more or less like your childs job. Theyre there to learn and they have rules to follow. When you come home youre free to say more things and do more things that you might not at school.

Possibly doing something that would invite bullies or cause you to have to fight them might not be a good idea.

If your fighting bullies over your clothing im sure youre quite distracted from learning. Maybe we wear those clothings at home to avoid issues.

So how are youre children doing?

Kinda is.

You're defending the position of changing who you are and giving in because of potential bullies.

The alternative of "no that's fucked and so is any parent who endorses it" is that simple. Even if it's not easy, its obvious and simple

Surprised it needs to be said in this day and age, but how you dress is not an invitation for aggressive behavior. Lets put the responsibility on the aggressors instead of the victims. This is the same argument people use when a woman is raped. She invited the attention by dressing that way is a horrible mentality that only perpetuates more victim blaming, and it wouldnt surprise me if the bullies who use this train of thought grow up to continue to use it to justify more terrible things.

Most people who wouldnt let their child wear confederate clothing would object because its morally repugnant. A boy wearing a dress is morally neutral.

But hes arguing it shouldnt be as he sees it as his heritage and thats the problem, how others see it versus how he sees it.

These guys would be like the parents of the girl who was raped saying it was her fault and she needs to not wear nice clothes and avoid going out because of the rapists.

I would talk to the school and I would talk to the teachers, and the bully's parents, and we would discuss the best way to curb the bully's behaviour. If the school and the parents did nothing I would take legal action.

The dress and fairy wings are irrelevant. Bullies will bully either way.
