I'm doing OK. Life is going. Nothing really good or bad to speak of. A girl I used to date is in town so we're gonna get together this weekend.

Okay-sh, I think I pissed off my boss last night, but that's par for the course if I'm not fired, which I doubt.

What is front of mind is the fact that I think my car has shit the bed, and that sucks.

Well i guess i am okay but i feel lonely around here since i don't get to be with friends too much. Or even meet new people to make as friends. I would like to meet new people and build a relationship and then maybe i won't feel so alone. But yeah mostly at home i watch a bunch of YouTube videos and then play my xbox one console. Just got resident evil village a couple days ago and its awesome so far. I always was a big fan of the series. Anyways i hope you well too

Thanks. Where is "around here"? Did you just move to a new city? And yeah, I'm doing alright.

@SiO4 5000ft below in the valley there's a dry dirt road to a summer trailhead. We drove there and did it in one day. In somewhat complex terrain and a fit group you can expect to climb 1000ft per hour

You can see the dark forest in valley in the distance, that's where we came from

In a bit of a rough patch. My hot water heater went last week so that was an expense I wasnt prepared for, and my wife spent mother's day in the hospital because of a spinal infection she got from an epidural 3 years ago.

I'm stressed the hell out, I am applying and preparing for interviews for new job openings. My current job is getting to the season where things get very stressful, and they are also pulling us back into the office from remote work the first week of July.

I can't go back so I need to find something before then, and once I do I want to start making plans to move over a thousand miles across country. I will need to put my house up for sale as well as look for it a rental that will allow my large dog and cat.

I'm trying to force myself not to look at rentals right now as I need to take one thing at a time and just prepare for interviews and keep applying for other jobs.

I made the switch from anti-perspirant/deodorant mix to just deodorant. I got tired of all my under shirts getting pit stains and turning kinda yellow, plus i've ruined two or three non-undershirts that were white. From what I've read it's the anti-perspirant and stuff in the deodorant that mixed with sweat causing the stains.

fuck if I know. I'll try it out and see if it works.

She's constantly in pain but some days the pain gets so bad she breaks into cold sweats and starts vomiting. The only way to stop those types of episodes is to get IV treatment at the nearest urgent care.

That's not somewhat, that is complex terrain.
1000ft an hour isn't bad...but you know it's happening, it must be a lot in those conditions.

I'm still really not sure where the base camp is, but I know you had a hell of a climb.

How was the trip down?

Did you use uphill skis to get up?
Or, I don't know what they are called but my friend uses them, it's like a felt that you put on to climb up.

@SiO4
Yep we use skins (cause they used to be made from animal skins), like a little carpet on the bottom of the ski. People have been skinning for 7000+ years!

The ski equipment we use isn't like the stuff you'd buy to ski at a ski area, it's much lighter and the boots are more like a mountain climbing boot than a ski boot. When it gets too steep for "skinning" we put crampons (spikes) on our boots and climb

That sounds like a hell of a workout.

I think the closest I got to that was hiking Noonmark Mountain somewhere in early winter. But at elevation it was winter. It was a solo hike so every footstep was critical.
I'd post pics, but it was pre-digital camera age for me.

I try to keep my winter hikes to a minimum because of the extra dangers involved...and well, lack of sunlight.

~Actually, come that time of year I first give the mountains to the hunters....and then the Skiers!
