1 is a 10/10 game
2 is a 7/10
3 is a 6/10

i like the way everything works in 1 SO MUCH more than the others. Bloodborne is definitely a step up from DkS2&3 IMO.

I made it like 80% of the way through 3 and just got bored

2 feels like a fun-house to me. A lot of the characters and areas feel outright goofy, but it makes up for it by constantly throwing new things at you and filling every level with a ridiculous amount of secret loot. I can't take the game seriously, but I always have a good time playing it.

People didn't like 2 because it wasn't like 1, then they made 3 too much like 1. Like 90% of 3 is "hey remember that thing from 1? Here it is but not as cool this time"

I'm I think maybe 2/3 through it (have not beaten it before). I like it I guess but it's exhausting to play through. After a long time I reached the point where I'm like "hmm I wonder what the other games are like" but getting involved in any more of them would probably be a mistake

Also should probably bail on this topic before someone posts unmarked spoilers, which is like, yeah, that's fair it's a 10 year old game

I mean there's really no story, not much to spoil unless you really care to know the names of who you fight. Also holy shit it's 10 years old this year.

People didn't like 2 because it threw most of what made the fist game out the window and comically missed the greast design 1 had, 2 had laughably bad geography and defaulted to throwing half a dozen+ enemies at you at a time when DS1 hardly did that and if they did the enemies were weak.

There's alot I want to like about 2 but it's faults really sour the game. Also hated how everyone praised SotFS as saving the game when it was just a remix mode with slightly better design but that's more of a community thing.

You can pretty much quit after Anor Londo anyway. The rest of the game is pretty much garbage past that point with the exception of maybe the cats.

everyone wants that, but in order to do that the game map would end up looking too similar to ds1 or zelda, then it wouldn't be players playing a new game
ds2 was supposed to have less bonfires too, you were supposed to have the ability to make a bonfire where ever you wanted

maybe they tried making a connected world with elden ring, maybe not
but i doubt it'd look like ds1, probably again more like zelda

try playing the game with a randomizer lol

sekiro is like a 40$ souls game

it's supposed to feel like a b-list movie
but that's what makes it good

play bloodborne first if you havent'
it's a natural departure from that

I hope they make a second sekiro with more elaborate characters and locations that are lived in
I feel bad about how plain sekiro is at times, compared to say nioh
sekiro is a long game that feels like a short game, same with bloodborne and even ds3

You have to go pretty far out of the way to spoil yourself with Dark Souls, since you're never given a full story and are left with conjecture on certain topics. The story is pretty straight forward on its face to the point of simplicity. Not that that's a bad thing.

I actaully like Sekiro better than Souls games but I haven't played BB, the combat in Sekiro is on a whole other level of greatness imo, I don't think I've ever seen a better combat system than it, there's some complaints I have with minor things but overall it's absolutely worth it.

I'm not a fan of Sekiro's gameplay.
It feels like taking the parry system and cranking it up to 100x, which is great for people who like it, but, that's not the gameplay I like.

Yeah true I guess there really isn't a whole lot of story, the only stuff that can get spoiled really is like names of bosses but that wouldn't necessarily mean a whole lot to me anyway.

I'm so bad at parrying. It's satisfying and effective when you get it to work but if it's an enemy I'm willing to actually try it on then they're probably pretty easy to beat anyway. There's no way I'd try it on a boss because I'm sure there's a good chance it's an attack that's not parry-able anyway, and if you fuck up that attempt is wasted

I'm enjoying that it's generally easier but yeah it does feel kinda like they just threw a bunch of random ideas in here that don't always make sense or mesh with the general design philosophy. A lot of the bosses for example have some weird trick instead of just being a slugfest

I love all the Souls games for different reasons and think everyone of them is a class below masterpiece simpy because they all have their flaws. DS1's levels were kinda drab after Anor Londo, that library level had me put the game down for a while. DS2 had too many poison levels. Saving DS3 for a rainy day. Seikiro hasnt been on big enough sale yet.

Did the DLC have a poison area? Can't recall

Pve poison was nerfed hard in this series. Best was the toxic darts going down to Blighttown.

They cleaned a lot of frustrating stuff up so in some ways 1 and DS were the hardest.

Sekiro parrying is very different and much much easier and forgiving, you can mash the button in most circumstances and you'll likely end up blocking attacks anyway, the system isn't the same either, the goal is to whittle down the enemies stamina(or health) so you can execute them and parrying does just that, one parry isn't a near instant kill like Dark Souls either.

Sekiro straight up tells you when an attack is unblockable with a sound cue and bright red Kanji floating above an enemies head to warn you and there's another (generous) counter to these as well. In Dark Souls you can't parry 90% of bosses anyway.

There's at least two...kinda. There's the obvious swamp area which is fucking annoying and then there's another minor version of that later after the prison, but in fairness you could just completely skip it. I don't recall any others off the top of my head.

Oh yeah you're right. Yeah that area after the prison isn't that bad.

Black Gulch is my least favorite in the series I think. I kinda like The Gutter, too. Fucking loathe the Gulch
