Current Events > Ex and I were coparenting without a parenting plan

At least, until covid hit. Ex is alt right (went off the deep end when we split up), and a Covid denier. Hasnt allowed me to see my son since March 2020. Have been trying to get in to file a parenting plan the entire pandemic. Closures of the courts along with the guidelines have made it almost impossible to have a family law case go through.

Found out about an hour ago my ex broke it off with her current BF so she could go back to the BF after me. She apparently also moved half the country away without even notifying me. Called 911 and the operator basically said Im fucked but they will have an officer call me back to discuss options.

Still trying to push the parenting plan through. I live in a state where the child still is considered as in the original state for 6 months after they move. So if it gets to court, and does soon, she must come up from where she is for it.

Fuck, this is wrecking me. Cant even throw money at the problem, Ive even tried that (for high priced lawyers and the such).

Will update as things actually happen. I feel completely powerless over this.

Were you not a married couple then? Does not being married basically give you zero parental rights?

I know it sucks but you need a good lawyer for this. Without having a parenting plan on the books already it's gonna take a lot of work to get this to go in your favor. I worked on a radio show with a lawyer who specializes in family law and we discussed issues like this quite often.

I know this is a shock to you, since youve never been with a woman, but generally you dont find out theyre crazy until you stick your dick in them.

But that sucks TC. If I ever had a kid, Id definitely do anything to work with the mom if we split up and Id hope she would too. My parents split for like 10 years and they were all pretty cordial when it came to me and my sister.

Did you contact a lawyer after this? She can't do that shit but I dont think it's a thing where calling the cops can resolve it either.

A decent lawyer can make this not happen barring extenuating circumstances. At least in canada. But also men are at a huge disadvantage in the courts unfortunately.

Update, EX she left to halfway across the country was booked for several charges mid last month.

4 counts reckless endangerment
1 DUII
2 counts assault 4
1 count Failure to perform duties of driver to injured persons (FELONY)

He is out on his own recognizance and is now halfway across the country from where he was booked.

Still no callback from an officer. Will recall tomorrow if they dont reach me before. Consultation for a custody battle is the 11th. Another $300 consult out of pocket.

When my ex and I split she wanted to move like 2 hours or so away. I got free lawyer advice for 30mins and he said she can't do that. I told her that otherwise they'd contact the cops or something. She got pissed. Now we have 50/50 custody and wrote up our own agreement which is notarized.

I feel like Im about to have 100% of custody here.
All this shit now, plus in the past she got hit for her dad being high on crystal meth while being paid by the state to watch my son. State still didnt give me custody after that but this has gotta be a breaking point.
