Wild ARMs is still the best JRPG series in my opinion and we desperately need a new game in the series!

IKWYDLS is a decent 90s revival slasher, but Scream is one of the best slashers of all time, and the cause of said revival.

Scream is probably a better film objectively, but neither are particularly good films.

Also people need to quit making up stories about Scream "revitalizing" anything. 1996 to 2013 was probably the single worst time for horror films since the '50s, and especially for American horror cinema. The best films from that awful time period owe nothing to Scream. Martyrs, High Tension, The Blair Witch Project, Let the Right One In, Audition, etc. all owe just about nothing to Scream. The only worthwhile films where you can see a clear influence were The Craft and maybe Ginger Snaps (even though that's probably a stretch). You could also say that Funny Games attempted something similar - but Heneke made a much, much more intelligent and eloquent film.

The only "good" argument I've ever seen was when someone said it made it so big stars were more willing to act in horror films post-Scream. That's literally the only good argument anyone has ever made.

Scream revitalized the slasher genre, not all of horror. There were tons of prominent slasher movies(and even more less prominent) following scream's revitalization and twisting of the formula. The Faculty, Urban Legends, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Halloween H20, all were heavily inspired by the more grounded take that Scream brought to the genre. There's extremely good reason that Craven is considered one of the best horror directors of all time.

Every film you named is an awful movie. Pretty cool that Scream helped influence tons of bad movies, and harkened the worst era for horror film arguably in the entire history of the medium? I don't know what criteria and conventions are being used to define the slasher subgenre - but I'm sure that it was never dead.
And Wes Craven had Last House on the Left, People Under the Stairs, and Nightmare on Elm Street. Then everything else was average at best.

Which part? '96-'13 being the worst era, or Craven only having had three great films? Because neither should be that controversial unless you have awful, awful taste.

Scream was legendary for the time, an all-timer "pop" horror movie. Really revived the genre in the late 90s too; you saw a lot more horror movies being made.
