I'm interested to see how his opposition will spin feeding children into a bad thing. You know they're mad about the needy getting help

suddenly the GOP cares about deficit spending like they do literally every single time Democrats try to spend money on helping the average person

As a former conservative, the arguments tend to be much worse than that. It would be something to the effect of

"If they couldn't afford to feed their children they shouldn't have had sex in the first place".

Hes taken every single opportunity to provide food assistance that is available to executive branch.

Food stamps, now school lunch programs.

Brilliant. This is why its useful to know how federal government works.

Yep, my family would say something to the tune of "The parents should be taking responsibility over their kids' food"

Look, I get it. some kids are poor.
But really it's not the kids fault at all. But it's not our fault either.
The parents need to pull themselves up by their bootstraps and PAY for their kids food.
They do it in other countries. Other countries don't have this problem because the parents are held responsible. Just actually get a job instead of leeching of the government for having your 10th baby this week,

How am I at being an alt right character? Close enough?

Good school food when?

Seriously the kids in my daughters 6th grade health class realized their school lunches were not considered healthy according to what they learned in class.

There are some schools that are trying to get kids involved and give healthy choices and as long as the food is fresh and tasty they like it.

But it costs a heck of a lot more to make and you have to have cafeteria workers that can actually cook, not just reheat food.

When Michelle was doing her healthy-lunches at school movement, some of my "friends" back home were sharing a picture of a piece of stale bread with a dill pickle or something on a tray and their reactions were "See people! This is the food your kids are being forced to eat!" >_>

They only care about fetuses. They dont give a single microscopic fuck about them once theyre born.

It looks like this is just extra foodstamp money over the summer. Why in the hell is this labeled as "school lunch"?

https://financialfinest.com/2021/05/05/biden-proposal-will-make-free-school-lunch-available-to-29-million-children-every-summer/
The bulk of that money, some $25 billion, is to be allocated to making summer electronic benefit transfers, or EBT, a permanent program. During Covid, the pandemic-EBT program sent money to families of students receiving free or reduced-price school lunch when school was not in session, including summer vacations.
Expanding this program, not just during pandemic times when schools are closed, but when we always know that schools are closed which is the summer is both evidence-based and a welcome change from how we do business, said to Lauren Bauer, a fellow in economic studies at the Brookings Institution and associated with The Hamilton Project.
In an average month, the pandemic-EBT program gives an additional $114 per child to families, on top of any other supplemental nutrition assistance program, or SNAP, benefits they receive.
