The Force connection that Snoke said he made? Oh yeah, but he was lying about that. He discovered the dyad and decided to pretend it was his doing for... reasons?

And then Palpatine had no clue it existed even though Snoke was his puppet and proxy. Guess the existence of a powerful unique force bond that could rejuvenate Palpatine wasn't important enough to keep him abreast of.

Just give it a rest, Rebel. Carrying water for these shitty, shitty films is beneath you.
my dude, of all the people on this board, your opinion on media matters possibly the least. Stick to your weeb shit.

TROS is specifically hilarious to me because having the direction of "What if the evil dark bad guy pulling the strings fucked up and control went to his emotional and unprepared apprentice" would have been something new from the franchise.

But not only did they retreat back into the same old puppet master plot they literally went back to the same old puppet master they used for 6 movies already. Now he's behind all 9 mainline movies. So now we have a puppet master behind the puppet master. It's obvious that the people behind TROS were either creatively bankrupt or thought retreading the same old stuff was the safest thing to do after TLJ.

I don't disagree with you but it would've been tough to pull off making Kylo the only villain of IX. Rey had pretty much proven she's about his equal already by the end of VIII and even at the end of VII she put up a pretty strong showing against him. VIII even fucked up making Hux a villain in the sequel when it made all the Hux scenes pure comedy relief. Which is why IX had to just altogether introduce a new scary British Imperial guy in General Pryde. Although then to be fair, I thought Hux seemed like a lame villain in VII too so maybe there's not a lot lost there.

There would've had to be some sort of twist or development with it for Kylo to carry the bad guy half. Maybe introducing the Knights of Ren is kind of a development in that regard, but Knights of Ren were squandered so late in the trilogy. We knew they were supposed to exist since before VII even came out, but by the time we finally see them we can assume Rey probably could've taken them all on with her hands tied, since she could already match their leader.

Oh, and killing Phasma in VIII was a waste too. She was wasted in VII too I guess. Man they really fucked almost every villain they tried to set up...

I think it would have been cool to see the perspective of someone taking the Sith Lord throne. Clearly Palpatine has some sort of knowledge and resources that he did not share with his apprentices. So what does that look like? Is there a some process in place for when a Sith Lord is murdered or dies and his apprentice takes over to make sure that the Sith always remain powerful? What would happen if someone like Kylo Ren learned how to use Force Lightning, learned how to manipulate the Force in powerful and unnatural ways etc.? I think there's enough wriggle room there to both give him a significant boost as he falls further to the Dark Side while also fleshing out more Sith lore. I think Game of Thrones shows that sometimes having a deranged and unstable villain take on a position of power can sometimes be more of a threat than a master manipulator. It would also be a mirror of the journey Luke takes in the OT.

Would have also been a natural way for old Sith Lords to have cameos and references. But ah well.

I can't imagine defending Rise of Skywalker tbh. I'll defend certain idea set in TLJ because I think Rian had a fairly good read of Lucas' ideas. But nothing in TROS was salvagable. It's borderline unwatchable rofl

DO IT!

Also, to add to the RoS dogpile:

oh fucking hell

heres a cool mysterious dagger thing that will point you to the thing youre looking for on the Death Star but only if it explodes and lands a certain way and you stand in the exact spot on a cliff overlooking the debris and look at it at the exact perfect angle

what are the fucking odds

My headcanon for that dagger is that Ochi the assassin is dumb as hell so Palpatine always made sure to send him out with a map attached to his weapon so he wouldn't get lost.

Probably makes more sense than the actual explanation.

Also, finding Ochis ship was super easy on a giant desert planet and neither Ochis ship nor the FUCKING DEATH STAR got examined at any point between RotJ and RoS and the Death Star somehow wasnt the first place anyone looked for a Sith Mcguffin.

Let's assume he carried around a to-do list, that was pinned to his shirt, and detailed his plans and the instructions to carry them out.

And it's entirely possible construction started while he was still "alive." He knew about Exegol before ROTJ.
Yeah, in the latest Vader comic that takes place after Empire Strikes back Vader finds his way to Exegol and Palpatine is already having his Star Destroyers with planet destroying lasers built there.
