I spend about 35% on mortgage, taxes , condo insurance and HOA. Bills, grocery, car insurance and such are another 15% so I run about 50% for my basics.

Anyone willing to work a full time job deserves to be able to live like that IMHO.

Looks like I'm at 31%. Apparently the made up threshold that people agree on is 28% and where the fuck are these people living. My mortgage is low for the area I live in

Unless that rule is supposed to be for a 2+ person household and not one person

With the usual cost of utilities included it's 39%. Now that I've bought all of the dumb shit I needed and some that I wanted, I'm trying to save a full paycheck per month

My MORTGAGE is about 1/4 of my take home pay a month. Utilities were killing me at a little shy of 400 a month but that's because I was paying for utilities to a vacant apartment (i live in the other apartment.)

Now that I have tenants in the other apartment my mortgage it's about 10 percent of my take home pay and they pay half the utilities.

If 50% of your entire net earnings are going to rent, then you are legit not balancing your finances right, like you'll never get approved for a loan just from your DTI.
