I spend about 35% on mortgage, taxes , condo insurance and HOA. Bills, grocery, car insurance and such are another 15% so I run about 50% for my basics.

Looks like I'm at 31%. Apparently the made up threshold that people agree on is 28% and where the fuck are these people living. My mortgage is low for the area I live in
Unless that rule is supposed to be for a 2+ person household and not one person With the usual cost of utilities included it's 39%. My MORTGAGE is about 1/4 of my take home pay a month. Utilities were killing me at a little shy of 400 a month but that's because I was paying for utilities to a vacant apartment (i live in the other apartment.)
