So now that i'm vaccinated I wanna start working again asap.

I've applied for a few things but.......This job showed up, it's 6 mins away from me (and I'm freaking 20 minutes out from town!!).

It's a job watching dogs!! Mostly puppies!! Requirement is to be able to play with puppies non-stop for 8 hours lol.

Hmmmm

Do I have to pay them?

I mean, it is only $14 an hour, so that is really low, but, I mean, my job would be to play with puppies, and i could literally ride a bike there (I wouldn't but I could).

I just applied tonight but I'll call em directly tomorrow!! I'm WAY overqualified but hopefully I can sell them on my love for dogs lol.

I mean, that wouldn't be a job, it would be just freaking AWESOME!!

Wish me luck ya'll, it's the job I was meant to have lol.

I'd take and do it.

Playing with dogs non-stop would be good exercise as well.

Yeah, honestly it's perfect until I wanna move where ever i'm gonna end up permanently and especially till the virus ends if it ever does.

Only worry is who wouldn't want this job, so there may be alot of applicants even if it's on this island 20 mins away from town.

Dear lord.

It was $105 an hour part time a few months ago and I turned it down because it wasnt a huge overall pay increase considering the part time status. They made it full time and added much better benefits and allotted for a few hours overtime each week. Caveat being I now need a certification for it that I take Monday (job hasnt changed at all, they just added hours and a cert). I get results back in two weeks, and if they havent found anyone with a cert by then its mine. Theres like 0 cares given about fit or personality, just need someone as soon as possible.

Definitely use your math degree for something, you dont have to have the skills, just the degree and land something entry-level then hop. I forget which island youre on but I definitely see some places advertising on Oahu. If youre worried about math-skills youd be surprised how many people with advanced STEM degrees have issues with algebra a few years after working and not ever thinking about it. Social skills get picked up when learning them becomes the path of least resistance.

Jeez $105 is insane. Everything is so much more lately. Mostly worked as a teacher which didn't pay much and it's been since 2010 since I worked in law. The base wages for everything are much higher due to min wage hikes etc.

Yeah I am gonna go to the dog place on Monday physically and see if the position is still open since it's so close and perfect for what I'm looking for. It doesn't pay much but you get tips as well I guess.

I already did the math and yeah I can totally live off the money from it, so it's really if I wanna do a more stressful job for more money that I don't really need, or if i'd rather play with pups all day and still make enough. Pretty easy decision.

Do think there will be alot of people who want it and while I have a ton of qualifications, that doesn't really put me over other for.....dog watching/playing lol.

Main thing is the distance for most jobs is 20-30 mins just to get to town, which means i'll prob want to move eventually if I get any job in Olympia. If I get the dog job though, I can stay here hopefully till the mask requirements are gone, and maybe even till I turn 55 and can then move into cheaper 55+ apartments or get a mobile home in a 55+ park etc. Everything is cheaper if your 55+ but it's still 4 years away.
