JigsawTDC 04/30/21 7:24:06 AM #1:	I'm writing a short story right now and one minor but important detail is the characters are unable to trade Pokemon with each other because they live far apart, like back when we needed a link cable with the Game Boy games. But I want to set the story as close to modern times as possible, so I want to use the last Pokemon games before online trading was introduced. I stopped in the Diamond/Pearl era and still remember you needed to be near a person to trade Pokemon with them (I don't think you needed link cables though? like it was down with wifi or something?) but I'm not sure if they introduced it later to that game because I lost interest super quick. I'm actually not even 100% sure that online trading is a thing in modern Pokemon. Yeah, if you want to trade online, you need the Nintendo Online subscription. That might be something you have to consider writing out, so it wouldn't be a solution ("DOH, MY FAMILY PLAN IS FULL. CAN'T ADD YOU." or "It's my dad's plan. I don't know if he'd add you on the plan." Or "Hey, I snuck into the family account and added you! Let's trade!" And then have the characters get busted and not be able to trade anymore).
