Missouri is about half and half. Once you get down to the Cape Girardeau area it's got far more in common with the south. Everything north of that is fairly midwestern.

All of Missouri makes it into the Weather Channel's map of the midwest. That is enough for me.

the "Midwest" is a poor label for anything in the US nowadays. It could mean anything from Pennsylvania to the Dakotas.

Her argument is that we don't say Ope enough and that I personally don't put Ranch on my pizza despite the rest of these people do that

I say Ope all the time, wtf!

Of course we are Midwest. Sure, we got elements of southern in us, but I feel people who call us Southern have never been to a Southern state.

Ranch on pizza isn't exclusive to the Midwest

One of my old co-workers is from Lebannon, MO and insist that Missouri outside of Kansas City, St. Louis, and Columbia is basically the deep Confederate South.

Isn't that also true in the Midwest states that definitely aren't southern? I think I saw confederate flags just outside pittsburgh

Eh, like rural Kansas can be very redneck-y but it isn't a Southern variety. That isn't to say you don't see the occasional Confederate flag, but it is hardly common.

Why are people calling Pennsylvania Midwest in this topic? Lol, we've always been North Eastern or more specifically Mid-Atlantic.

I will admit I do consider it baffling that we have people that fly Confederate Flags here, though. I do live in the area nicknamed Pennsyltucky, though.
