I can't blame them for not wanting to go through another montage of Goro beating up extras and for not spending half the movie hyping up what a bad ass he is. More times than not, it's better to do something different than it is to do the same thing a second time. Maybe if this had simply been the '95 film with blood, a Sub-Zero/Scorpion fight, and a better fight between Johnny Cage and Goro, those same people who are happy now would've been disappointed. Maybe they'd be shaking their heads and wondering why Hollywood put out the same film we've already seen but some minor tweaks. It makes you wonder how the hell they managed to win 9 tournaments even with cheating. He'd probably still have to disrespect him on top of it by throwing Cage's broken shades on his dead body or tearing up an autographed photo of us. Once that has been balanced out, I think people could view him as a monster again. Had they positioned him as the nine time champion in this film, I think people's thoughts would be drifting to the groin punch and how easily he was beaten in the last movie. When The Dark Knight came out, nobody was thinking about the Joker losing a surfing challenge or getting punched out by Shaggy in a Scooby Doo crossover.
