Like, for stuff like graphic content I totally get. That's just being courteous.

But I'm a part of some special interest groups on Facebook and every once in a while I'll see something like "CW: Food" or "CW: Books".

Like who is that coddled? They will deadass write an essay on why, too.

Food thing is because of people with eating disorders. Problem is that it inadvertently stigmatized food as a negative when you're warning about it
So what do they do when they drive past restaurants?

I imagine there's a difference between a building and seeing the actual food.

Can you explain that one? This is coming from a place of honesty >_>

Like is it in regards to the quantity? Or is there a warning because it involves stuff like diet restrictions? Or the way it looks?

you posted in the OP about food as a CW being "ridiculous" and made a very rude comment about people with eating disorders driving by restaurants.
I asked what their course of action is when they're in a real place where there are no such warnings. You're making this out to be something it isn't for the express purpose of being feaux-outraged.

Tbh it's like you're asking what if someone with a fear of spiders does when they see a spider. They live everywhere so it can't be avoided. I mean you could just think about it on your own but obviously sometimes seeing a trigger is unavoidable but CW is exactly about that, they're trying to spare someone discomfort and it doesn't take much effort to do so.

Personally I learned how to overpower my fear by becoming filled with murderous rage whenever I'm scared so if I see a spider, I go into a killing frenzy. Against spiders mind you, humans are safe unless they try to stop me from upholding justice and ridding this world of EVIL.

I completely get that. I don't get people who unreasonably lash out when people don't do what they say. I have a phobia of falling into the sky (real stupid, I know), but I'm not insulting people for thinking it's unusual.

That's also something that doesn't take much thinking... Fear makes you unreasonable. I'm not sure what is difficult to understand here. I'm a very stupid person but I do understand the behavior from some of my own experience. The fear itself is unreasonable and the person is now in discomfort. They're not always going to be rational about things.

What ISN'T unreasonable is a CW. Nothing is being taken from anyone, it's just a little heads up for people. Do we always need a CW? Maybe not, but that's up to the person providing said content. It's not a problem.

The root cause is fear so of course...

But you were asking about the CWs, not why some dude might be upset that fruit isn't tagged under "gore". No one's disagreeing with you about this instance either but it has little to do with anything right now. There's little to be done for that person. You can't lie about it but tagging it factually as food would have the same result.
