Including groves that should catch it if it plummets, cushion it at the bottom but the fucking thing should never plummet because it has at least 6 cables holding it up and each one of them is rated to hold the max weight of the elevator alone. It's slightly better with newer ones that have at least a little independent power, to keep the lights on or something as well as their emergency phones.
