There was a plot point in the comic where Hanzos guilt was getting in the way of Scorpions vengeance, and they fought for control. In the end, Hanzo won, which is why you dont really see much demon shenanigans in the MKX story, even though he still has control over it. Its also why his death in MK11 was bullshit, because if he dies, he should be able to just come back since he knows the way out from Hell. (Also something that happened in the comic.)
