Kano was the best character.
Everything else was a train wreck.

You can't just turn off your brain to enjoy this film, you have to destroy it.

It was horrible as movie.

Like take the first movie. You didn't need to know about the game to understand what was going on . For this movie if you didn't know about the game you were lost.

As a casual MK fan, I did like that they threw in more game references this time around. Moves and fatalities pulled straight from the series and played straight.

It is an enjoyable train wreck. It fails to capture the spirit of Mortal Kombat. The plot is impossible to follow. But it is just so spectacularly off the rails it's nearly impossible not to laugh and have a good time watching it. It is a masterpiece of bad filmmaking.

Get some friends, grab some popcorn, and have a good time.

Don't listen to the posers, its a fun MK movie with tons of cool nods to the games/lore and sick fights and fatalities. It does its own thing for sure, however as a fan since the 90s I really didn't want the same exact story again for the umpteenth time anyway. Original trilogy, MK9, Shaolin Monks, and even MK1995 all gave us similar stories, I am glad they decided to do something different.

Also I have been reading around and half the people talking shit about it don't even know anything about Mortal Kombat. Some dumbass was confused why Scorpion was on Earthrealm's side....these people don't know shit about MK.

Delia, Nitara, Reiko, Shinnok, Bo Rai Cho. Half the people shitting on this movie don't even know who they are. Their opinions are invalid.

Watch it and make your own opinion. Listening to these people who apparently like PG13 MK are too blinded by nostalgia to give an honest take.

It sucks, but it's worth a watch if that makes sense. It has the cheese you'd expect, a lot of gore, stupid one liners, but managed to be entertaining.

Are you an insufferable who cares about the plot of mortal kombat? Then watch it so you can bitch about things no one else cares about because that's as close as you get to happiness.

Otherwise do you like dumb action flicks with decent cgi, mostly good fight scenes, and no forced romance sub plot? Then you'll get exactly what you want.

No one is going to call it a great film, because it isn't, but no one expects a mortal kombat movie to be great. It's got some nice fatalities that take advantage of the r rating. It spends just enough time on the plot to advance the fights but is pretty much background noise. It does a lot of references to the game that the majority of ce will enjoy. It's not an mcu quip fest but as a few jokes.

Heres some advice that you probably wont take.

Stop paying attention to what people on the internet say about the things youre interested in watching/playing. If its something you think you might be interested in, go for it. You may or may not like it. But decide on your own. People on this board can be really critical on some things and exaggerate on how bad something is.

For me, I thought the movie was ok, but still love the original much better. You may hate it, you may love it

Just finished it and thought the same thing. It was fun seeing characters in a fighting game movie actually doing their fighting game moves, especially when it's from such an over-the-top fighting game as MK. But MK already has, what, 70 characters to choose from? Why create another one for the main character, especially when somebody obviously got it that what we wanted to see was shit from the games? I'd rather Mavado be the main character, and fuck Mavado.
