there's a family (the dad is missing i think) and they're trying to get a room (hotel?) but there's no room or their papers got mixed up and when the son grows up he buys the building or something

not sure if that was something that was revealed in the end or mentioned at the beginning

also, looking for movie recommendations for my mom. she is a pleb

Sounds a bit like the opening scene of Crazy Rich Asians, but I'm assuming this is something much older, as that is only 2018.

ok i was looking for this because my mom mentioned it and wanted to know the title and it sounded really familiar to me but i couldn't place it. it turns out it was Crazy Rich Asians but she was under the impression that the movie was a rags to riches story about that boy in the hotel and that's why she was interested lmao
