I have big viens/hands and am easy to draw blood from.

My wife on the other hand had tiny sentient veins that actively avoided needles. It was always so hard to get blood from her.

Today i got my second modera shot, and while there, i did the blood draw my doctor wanted. I got to experience the unpleasantness my wife always had to deal with.

Again, my veins are cake, but the first nurse i guess was totally new at taking blood. She messed up the first attempt (now it's all blue and swollen but they said it would go down in a few days), then she tried 4 more times, on both arms and the other hand.

Finally she called another nurse for help, and amazingly she got it right away the first time with no problem at all.

Now for my wife, sometimes even the second nurse wasn't good enough and they would need to summon a vein whisperer lol.

Luckily i probably will never need that, but it is very frustrating that they have unskilled nurses learn on patients. I get they need practice and that is the only way to eventually become good, but, have a skilled nurse watch them at first, and more importantly if they fail the first time, call the better nurse right away, don't restick someone over and over. I looked like a blue wrapped mummy when I left (hands and arms covered with that blue stretchy tape stuff. My right hand still hurts and this was at 10 am.

Anyway blah, not fun, but now i know a bit more what it was like for Linda every time. Sadly she had to go up the chain pretty much every single time because nobody believed they couldn't get blood from her until they tried a few times.
