they're just trying to make the internet exactly like tv was. You might already pay for this...but if you want THAT content you need to pay for something else too. Sorta like a tv package. scum

You've caught on to what they're doing. Internet streaming is becoming like premium Cable packages of the '90s. It's going to lead to a rise in piracy, because nobody's going to want to have seven different subscription packages and seven different logins for seven different fucking services.

Yeah I'm already annoyed that I have 4. It sucks that Amazon Prime is one of them because it's pretty much a trash streaming service.

reruns being exclusives literally destroyed streaming. original content being developed for 20 different platforms burnt its corpse.

my theory is that it's going to lead to tv apathy in general. the idea of "must-see" tv is dying out since everyone has some different combination of streaming services, people will accept that they cant watch Show X because they dont want to pay for Streaming Service Y & move on

Hulu is completely owned by Disney now, I think

Peacock is owned by NBC, who used to own part of Hulu but gave up their stake to start Peacock.

What I think is good is, you don't need to have all the subscriptions active at the same time. It's kinda nice that you can choose what you want. Activate a month of something then cancel it when what you want to see is over.

Lol I get what you're saying but the biggest difference is just that it's big enough for more than one company to want in on the action

the main difference between having a bunch of streaming services vs cable is that i can pick which streaming service(s) i have active and only pay for the ones i'm actively watching. pay for Netflix for a month or two, watch the shows on there, then cancel and go activate Disney+ for a while. rinse, repeat.

the whole reason cable fucking sucks is that i'm stuck with either nothing or 200 channels of which i only care about 5.

At least with streaming you can cycle through services.

I did this with HBO, will probably do this for Disney+ too once Loki wraps up

Also cancelling is done in like three clicks. You don't have to call and get transferred and hung up on a million times.
