It's not that surprising to me. Most athletes lack camera presence and sound stiff when talking/acting.

He has a lot of the mannerisms down, but seems a little awkward in the interactions. Transitions between contestant interviews often being a quiet little "That's great" or something that gets drowned out by the audience, for example.
