WWII. Otherwise they saved or destroyed other countries or hung out in other people's countries.

The US military has arguably caused more harm than good in the last 40 years.

I will say I don't hate the troops, I hate how it's leaders and how government uses them.
Tell us how super amazingly peaceful and prosperous things were in the world pre WW2? I'm honestly not seeing it. Hell I'm convinced the east would have caused WW5 by now if not for us.

The military dick swinging has a point though. If the US wasn't swinging it's dick around all over the middle east then Russia would be doing it instead. Meanwhile the dudes already there just want to be left alone but are forced to choose who's dick they want rubbed in their face.

That's mainly do to nukes. If nukes were not a thing, the world would never have changed.

Because they're idiots.

I think this has been covered before. The Army/Navy/AF/whatever can't make it mandatory yet because the vaccines are still only approved for emergency use. Once its not then they can make it mandatory.

They're really just being given the illusion of choice right now and showing their whole asses.

The Army, military in general really, doesn't do "choice". Usually it's "fuck you, you're getting this or doing this" or whatever. Being given an option in the military should always be looked at sideways from a million different directions, because it means they don't trust it enough to mandate it and if they don't trust it enough to do that then why should we trust it enough to get it?

R_Jackal posted...

Yeah eventually they'll mandate one of them.

I kind of figure they're waiting to see which vaccine has the least side effects and will mandate that one

Criticize it all you want. I was responding in kind until it became obvious there can be no posts supporting people's right to chose whether or not they get vaccinated.

I've always held the position that if people want to take the vaccine, they should. I'd never criticize someone who decided to take it. And for the people who choose not to, I wouldn't criticize them either.

It's a personal choice, and by law, it literally is a personal choice. There is no government mandate saying otherwise. So quite literally, it is a personal choice. People who feel they are vulnerable to the virus and feel they can benefit from the vaccine should take it and socially distance if they're worried about it.

If you're concerned, take the vaccine, "mask up" and continue to conduct your business or daily routines how you see fit.

Personal choices and opinions have become wildly distorted in America. In a lot of cases, a choice has to be made. Swerving over every lane just makes sure everyone loses. If we aren't going to choose vaccines, then we might as well throw out all research and leave society up to nature. They're just a waste of time and money if they're not winning. All choices can't exist in harmony with each other. If your choice cancels out my choice, then how do we decide which choice wins? A society that actually respected all choices would just be pure chaos.

What "law"? I never said anything about forcing them to take the vaccine.

Houston (because of course it's this user making this argument) is trying to say you can't criticize people for choosing not to get vaccinated, regardless of the reason, because it's a personal choice. Which is obviously a load of horseshit because that's arguing you can't criticize people for making a choice based on science denial, conspiracy theories, outright denial/literally making up history, etc.

No one would seriously argue that for any other scenario so why the fuck should we accept it here?

Where in the article does it say Marines specifically? It looks like none of the branches have released an acceptance rate as there is no military wide rate considering it's not available to all service members. The percentages mentioned are going off the bases and none of the ones mentioned are Marine Corps bases either.

At a media round-table in Hawaii last month, Lt. Gen. Ronald Place, Director of the Defense Health Agency addressed the issue, saying the hesitancy of young troops was understandable.

"For someone who's young and healthy and doesn't have the long-term information that they may want to know, it's a rational question to have," Place said. "The short-term safety profile is exceptional, but nobody, and I mean nobody, knows the long-term safety."

lol if anyone here has a problem with this, too bad - your opinion is noted and disregarded.
