Because king would mean the queen answers to him, so he was always going to be a Prince and nothing more.

(because king > queen in case it wasnt obvious)

Because a King always superceeds a Queen, and Queen Elizabeth was next in line to the throne / being crowned Queen.

Because the legal title is King. Lizzy is legally King, and a country (or at least the UK under UK law) cannot have two kings at the same time.

Because a ruling Queen's husband isn't a King, he's a Prince.

To add, Queen (Regnant) is a more friendly way to refer to a woman who is King. Whereas Queen (Consort) is a lesser legal title to give to the wife of a King.

At best he could have become Regent, if Lizzy somehow died before lil' Chuckie became an adult.

I think her son Charles would have become king even if Philip had still been alive

that guy is 72 now and was probably told by adults that he would be King one day back when he was a child. Imagine waiting 70 years for something and it still not happening and now youre so damn old, maybe he is chill about it though idk

He married a queen-regent, so he's a prince-consort. Sometimes they're called king-consorts, but the important thing is that the title reminds people that he's not in line for the throne. If Queen Elizabeth died first, the power would then go to Charles rather than Phillip.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_consort

Basically he's not called a king because he isn't one, he's merely married to the queen.

They still have a lot of very real power and prestige. And within the family itself, the head of the family has access to the distribution of tremendous wealth. While their political power has been chipped and bargained away, they still have a considerable amount.

Bingo. It's who's next in line for the throne that gets the crown(normally by blood) not whoever they wed. Royal Blood is a thing.
