Prince consort or something
Prince Philip does not have the title of 'King' simply because the law of succession in Britain is based on gender and not bloodline. The parliamentary law means that when someone marries a King or Queen, they become known as a 'consort'.Mar 2, 2021 --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Don't quote me on this, but I believe the king has to be a direct descendent of the Royal Family, not married into it. So being married to the queen isn't enough. Prince Charles will be King Charles when the queen dies since he is a direct descendent.

Because if he was king, he'd be higher rank than the Queen, so given she's the current "head honcho" he can't be king so prince consort instead.

Basically, a girl can have her rank increased but a boy can't. ... Copied to Clipboard!

I think Philip was part of the Greek royal family and was related to the British Royal Family and was like 100-something-in-line for that throne too. He had to renounce claims when he got married.

He's "Prince Philip" and not "King Philip" as "King" isn't a title given by marriage. There's no "King Consort" while there is a "Queen Consort". He also isn't legally "Prince Consort" in the UK that's only been the title of Prince Consort Albert given to him by Queen Victoria. He was originally a Prince of Greece, but lost that title when Greece abolished the monarchy in the 1970's. He was given the title "Prince of the United Kingdom" back in the 1950's.
