Don't wake up and immediately stare into your phone screen in bed for 10-20 minutes.

Get up and get a glass of water.

Dumb boomers need to learn to shift work hours back a bit and shorten them. Nobody needs to work 8 hours a day (really 10+ hours when you add in transit + a break where you cant even chill out in your own home since youre at work). Hire more people that work 6 hours a day 4 days a week

Sleep is a 2-way street. If you're up late, you'll probably wake up late, but alternatively, if you choose to stay in bed in the morning and sleep til 11/Noon/1:30, you're naturally gonna be awake late at night. Chicken vs egg n all that.

As a nurse practitioner, this thread makes me cringe. It is shocking how often how the ignorant spread misinformation. Even in the context of proper sleep hygiene, there are many many people who suffer from insomnia. Not to mention persons who suffer from poor sleep hygiene due so because of complicated, poor coping mechanisms for a variety of mood disorders like bipolar or depression.

Poor sleep habits that last years are usually a symptom of other underlying issues that need to be treated. Whether that's sleep apnea, vertigo, bipolar, or even adhd it is highly variable.

Listing out a bunch of changes for sleep hygiene in a condescending way is unhelpful, unless you yourself derive some level of self worth from being a "morning person" then I don't see the point.

Even in the context of a person who just needs to change habits, changing daily/nightly routines is not always easy and can sometimees require cognitive behavioral therapy
