I used to find mochi relatively easily at Asian and other international mom-and-pop markets. You can probably do a search for those in your area.
Theres a Korean-American department store chain called H Mart. If youve got one close enough they probably have some. Maybe a Mitsuwa if youve got one of those. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Costco used to sell it I think, not sure about now, havent been in a few years. Some restaurants sell it too around here (Vegas).

Big mochi fan. I normally go after the Macha flavor. Luckily there's a Whole Foods and Trader Joes in the area that sells them.

Frozen ice cream mochi is so much worst. Unless you're getting it freshly made at a store, the mochi skin is all dry and hard which is not what real mochi suppose to be. I tend to stick to regular red bean mochi if it's pre-packaged.
